Hi,
I have prayed LOH with someone who stands before the saying the Canticles (in Morning and Evening). I usually kneel while I pray them. Is it okay to remain kneeling during the Canticles, or is standing a rule?

It is proper to stand during the Canticles as they are from the Gospels.

Here is the proper stance for each office:

We stand for the opening and hymn
sit for the psalms
stand for the Glory Be…

repeat for each psalm

sit for the reading and responsory

stand for the Gospel Canticle until the end of the office

This all depends on whether you say the LOTH in a public setting, or privately. Privately, the rubrics allow the entire Office to be said sitting. But you are free to stand or kneel.

In a public setting it’s a different matter, the rubrics are spelled out in the General Instructions that should be in the first volume of the 4-volume set, or at the beginning of Christian Prayer.
