My normal cincture is a 14’ long version. First, I fold it in half, then make a loop in the folded end which I pass the free ends through after girding my loins with it. I pull the free ends through until they are tight and move the knot to the center near my navel. Next, I take one free end, bring it up to my left side, pass it under the cincture, make a knot, and let the remainder hang below this knot. It hands to just above my ankle. Then I repeat the process for the right side. This allows for two loops which, if I were a priest, I would pass the ends of my stole through.
