Long time friendship

My friend from 7th grade called me last night and we had a lovely conversation. I felt so much better than I have been lately. We have kept in touch sporadically through the years.

I am 54 years old now and so is my friend. I’m just so delighted I wanted to share it.

Thanks for listening. And thanks be to God. It was just what I needed, to know for sure I have a real friend, and I hope I can always return the favor.

I’ve been friends with my best friend for 35 years now (I know, my wife should be my true best friend, but outside of marriage, he’s my best friend). It’s great to have someone like that who you can rely on, who you know you can call and talk or vent to, or just have listen when you need it.

I have a friend since 7th grade as well. We don’t see each other much or even talk much but it’s really nice when we get together.

It’s awesome when we can say, “remember when sister did that?” or “remember when we had to sing the same song over and over in music class?” Someone in life besides your siblings can remember that far back as you can. LOL

Happy for you. Cherish your best friend (it is quite separate from marital/partner friendship)
A real friend is pure gold and I believe a special gift from God. If you lose that friend through death - it’s an irreplaceable loss. If you lose that friend through neglect or worse…well !!!
So glad you have each other.

That’s awesome. My oldest (and previously best) friend I’ve known since 10th grade. But our lives have taken us different directions and we don’t have as much in common anymore, so we don’t talk often. Plus, I’m only 33, so I suppose that’s not THAT long of a friendship afterall.

But still, good friends are wonderful. I don’t really feel like I have friends anymore and it’s something I long for: good friends who really know me. I’m very thankful, however, that I have several sisters that I can lean on for friendship.

Mine is next year, so I am interested in what anyone suggests!

You could get a copy of your yearbook photo and wear it next to your name tag. We did that at our 10th reunion. I think by the 40th, we will all look so different that we may need those reminders!
