I think that you should look into the
Fellowship of Catholic Men. It is a great organization and its goal appears to match your needs. It is quite active here in Texas.
Thanks for the tip. I signed up. Since joining the K of C’s 40 plus years ago, about 20 years ago the leadership of our Charismatic Prayer Group (a group now defunct) started a men’s Saturday morning Prayer Breakfast. It has waxed and waned over the years and only two of us are charter members, but between six and a dozen of us, more or less, meet every Saturday Morning from 7:30 to 9:00 to eat, pray, and share.
The sharing usually revolves around something from Scripture or a Spiritual Book or Article provided by the “Basket Holder.” We have a little basket with a heavy weight envelope in it that we pass around each week for every attendee to put in a dollar. The person taking the Basket home that week is responsible for the next week’s topic.
When the envelope contains 100 dollars we give it to a worthy cause which is suggested each time and voted on by the group. Over the years we have given to quite a spectrum of needs, like Catholic Charities, home for battered women, members of our community who are fighting cancer, local jail ministry, etc.
Our group has spawned five permanent deacons, with another one working on it and has included a number of guys who have volunteered as Catechists in our parishes Faith Formation programs.
The Fellowship of Catholic Men sounds like a wonderful resource. Thanks again.
