hi all. recently i just had a major life changing experience in which i quit my ultimate team (90 percent of my friends are on there) and focused on my school and career.
This is a great thing but i lost all my f*cking friends in the process. God it feels like i’m going pyschotic here. nobody wants to hang out or do anything. i’m always the one having to frickin initiate everything here, i’m always alone on weekends. i’m trying my a** to make friends but everyone is like a stone wall.

has this happend to anyone.? and what advice do you have to offer? thanks and sorry for my language. You cannot even begin to comprehend how frustrated i feel right now.

Not much advice but I sort of know the feeling. 😦

I don’t really have any friends here at college. I have casual acquaintances, people I talk to in class or at work, but I don’t really have any friends. But no one really invites me along to hang out or go to parties or anything. And I feel like I would be imposing or inviting myself when I hear people discussing their plans.

Don’t worry George, I think you are thinking too much about making friends

While I might be wrong on this one, I believe that making friends just happens. Like any other relationship, it is recommended that you don’t wait for it.
Why don’t you join clubs or start volunteering somewhere?
In my first year of high school, I did not have any friends for one year. Instead of hanging out with people, I volunteered with the special needs students and from there I was introduced to many people. Even now, I am in university, I do not have very close friends.
In my university, there are many social clubs for networking, meeting people etc… maybe yours has ones as well?

To start off, find your interest and join clubs.
Everyone feels you, so do not worry. Maybe God is calling you to start a friendship with Him first? 😉

Hi George, most of us and more importantly Jesus has been there and done that many times over! Age is great that way in which older people can advise through their life long experiences with other people and most importantly (paramount) are the reasons in which God and Jesus encourage and guide us through these changes!

When one thinks of how Jesus chose to carry out God’s Divine Holy Callings leaving His friends and travelling in unchartered territories, meeting new people, spreading God’s Commandments, Words and Wishes, enduring harsh social exclusion during the harshest of times/periods, to the extremity; is it little wonder that we are encouraged to do the same, in order to experience a tad of the human sorrows and loneliness caused by social exclusion and/or coming across face to face with ‘clicky groups’ or people with their own interests not in tune with ours? Whether it be people who are not sporty, may be ‘arty’ or have other different tastes and backgrounds disinterested in one self or interests or not possess the same humour, or social interests as ourselves?

At the moment, this may appear that God and Jesus are telling you to pack up, move back to your previous school or work environment, friends (group/team) and social settings. Not so, you would not be in this situation if God did not want you to experience this social loneliness or social clickiness or miss your previous team/friends. Believe me, major positives have come out of all life changes of environment to myself and other people despite initial feelings of social isolation and loneliness from changes of Cities, homes, work environments, schools (raising my kids who are now 22yrs and 18yrs), starting up support groups, charity work, meeting new people through many different social situations and other people, as you would know George, the list progresses with every person.

I urge you to give the place time George as it will soon become apparent (if you open up your Heart and pray regularly) of why God and Jesus guided you to make the changes you have this year! Your Mind, Heart and Soul will ‘grow’ tremendously placed in unchartered and lonely territory, given God has commenced what He has planned for you (experienced this in so many many situations) George.

Initially, why not travel back and visit your Team/friends periodically and chat online every now and then with them, while settling into your new environment/City along with popping your name down on local teams/events in addition to the school activities?

Most importantly, pray The Holy Rosary and Jesus Rosary at least every couple of days asking God and Jesus to introduce “the right people and right interests” while concentrating on your studies/work.

God bless George

Now I recall the 18 year period in my life in which I had moved interstate knowing few people and what I did to make friends and settle into the new City!

I joined a Spiritual group that was set up to assist the homeless youth in the City for accommodation and their basic necessities. All denominations were involved and a few great friends were made through the organisation. I joined a local sporting group (touch footy for young women and made friends with fun people my own age). Dancing classes, the Gym, fitness groups, swimming clubs, other Charity groups, I did a cake/baking fundraiser myself for a local Charity and asked if anyone wished to bake with me; this worked and a few people volunteered. You could organise a Fun Run through your College with a $1.00 donation going towards a Local Charity for the Homeless or the College sports equipment etc. Community projects are the way to go in a College or University to meet like minded people!

Perhaps organise a Dance-a-thon with the assistance of a Lecturer, advertising on the Bulletin Board at College and making it a Friday night to break up the weekends for other people who are new to each of your Colleges.

I will post again recalling other things done when younger to meet people,

Kind wishes to all of you beautiful young Children of God.

they’re not your friends then dude, get over it and make some new ones, and don’t blaspheme the Lords name.

peace.
