I’m tasked with making a handout to help moms in small groups of 6 or so reflect/plan/discuss their plans for lent.

In my head this page has questions, space to take notes and some encouraging quotes. (Encouragement because sometimes they can’t have the same sort of lenten practices they may have chosen pre-parenthood).

Ideally the discussions will allow them to give eachother ideas they may want to try or what has worked for them in the past. This might not be about their personal lenten choices so much as age-appropriate things they do with their kids/family. Personal choices aren’t off limits if people want to talk about that. If you’re nursing and pregnant and stuck in a rut of only thinking about fasts, the discussion might be helpful.

I’m open to and grateful for any thoughts/resources/ideas you might have on this. Doesn’t have to be all mom-flavored. I’m not married to the theme, just that’s the audience.

Aside: If you saw my other posts about quitting the moms group, I didn’t backslide. 😆 Completeing this task is my olive branch to a remaining leadership member who has always been kind to me.

Until anyone answers, you should look back in time on CAF. Every year before or during Lent, there are discussions of things to do instead of giving up stuff, you might be able to pull some of those ideas into your discussions. Use the search feature! I will search with you and see if I can find anything. 🙂

I am not sure if you still need suggestions or if this is too late for your resource.

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” St. Teresa of Calcutta

That quote might be encouraging to a mom who is upset about not being able to do something “big” for Lent, but who could put a lot of love for God into doing something “small.”
