Is it wrong to look at someones rear. From my previous struggles it is difficult to understand the thoughts of purer people, i am just reminded of my thoughts when i was not as good of a person (ie looking at porn, looking at women).

But would you say it is ok for a woman to say “that guy has a cute butt”. It is hard for me to relate because of previous circumstances as mentioned. Please explain

Sometimes…it can be a habit…but, I think when you do something inadvertently…as opposed to purposefully…that is where the line is drawn between sinful behavior and non-sinful behavior. Just my $.02.🙂

Oh…no…I don’t like that from a personal or spiritual level. I think it degrades both women, and the man they are ‘checking out.’ I think that mortal sin starts with but just a glance…:o We need to be mindful of the little slips…so we don’t end up falling. Now, this isn’t a mortal sin, but this type of ‘gazing’ can lead to it if we don’t think it’s wrong.

I hear that quote all the time and it has me scratching my head. I mean what is so great about a person’s rear? What comes out of it?.. yeah that is real sexy:shrug:

I think it is fine to look, comment, and to compliment, but everything should be done with an appropriate demeanor.

Observing the physical attributes of others is normal particularly if those attributes are attractive to you. It is what you do about those thoughts that should be considered more closely.

when i see a person who’s beautiful or sexy i try to turn it around in my mind so it’s like appreciating the sunset or a bird’s song. 🙂 and i bless them, too.

It’s no sin to admire someone’s beauty. That person is made in the image and likeness of God. The sin is when you distort that admiration to something unholy. When I see a beautiful woman, I’ve gotten into the habit of saying to myself, “Wow, good job God!” This reminds me that the person is His creation and if frees me to see that person without the annoyance of lust or wanting to possess that which is not mine.

It’s interesting that our culture has ingrained in us that a sexual response or thought is the only response we think we can have to beautiful people. If I see a spectacular sunset, or a perfect rose, my first response has never been to defile it. Yet society teaches us that the purpose of beautiful people is to use them. It doesn’t have to be that way. In the beginning it was not so. We do have a choice in the matter as we are not slaves to our concupiscence.

The reason some people’s rear ends are considered attractive is that the tone of the muscle there is a strong measure of a person’s overall fitness and age.
That and the abs and thighs and upper arms. the larger muscles sag soonest. that’s how I’ve heard it.
So maybe a good way to think about it is, “Good for you, keeping in shape like that.” I don’t know.🤷

This website will help you find answers. Imagine Mother Teresa, Jesus, Mary, and John Paul II standing by you and watching you. Would they be proud or would you be embarrassed?

Zoop,
From what I have read, JP II appreciated the sight of a well turned ankle. He would have had no problem with a casual comment on the appearance of a woman.
Mary was reputedly a very good looking woman. I am certain that she enjoyed may compliments on her looks.
Jesus (the Word) is responsible for all of creation. Note that Genesis reports that creation is accounted by God to be “very good” only after the creation of woman. How could He possibly be offended by a positive acknowledgement of the goodness of creation?
I get the impression from reading some of the things Mother Theresa has said that if she heard a comment about the pleasant curve of a lady’s tush she would have laughed. And probably said something like “Behave yourself.”
Hardly high condemnation.

Sounds like just about any dear old woman that’s been around awhile… Time & experience has given them the knowledge of how life works… (except if it was my Grandma she’d have backed it up with a smack to the backside of my head!.. just to reinforce the point of course…… then smacked me again because I didn’t go talk to the gal! )

The key word here is looking… not dwelling upon. My ribs will attest to the fact that I’ve glanced at an attractive gal (forgetting I was with my wife).

Re-ask that question when a pretty “fitness-freak” gal wearing some snug pocketless white slacks walks by…(Wham - another shot to the ribs)

Just let the initial “wow” go off in your head, then forget it, and get on with your day.
