Looking at "yourself"

hi, i am new to this website, so i am going to try it out on one of these issues i have.

I used to masturbate, but for some reason i felt it was wrong so i stopped. I guess i was right because i read a sheet concerning the ten commandments and found that masturbation was under “Do not commit adultery.” After reading that i was done, and i have not returned.

But seeing as i am an 14 year old teenage boy, naturally i am still interested in “whats down there”

Sometimes i just look at myself naked in the mirror, and get an erection. I stand there and look at myself, not thinking anything wrong or fantasizing, just looking. I don’t ejaculate, just curiously looking i guess. I also do this sometimes after I go to the bathroom, just looking at my genitals, and i get an erection.

Is this a sin i am commiting, or is this just admiring, sort of? I don’t want to be sinning over this, so if this is wrong please tell me! :confused:

also, i have one more question.

Is shaving “down there” a sin? I don’t know if it would go against any commandment, but i want to be sure. I haven’t yet, but i don’t know if i ever will need to.

If you find it an occasion of sin, that is, it leads to sin as a temptation, then do avoid gazing at yourself for no useful purpose.You already know how you’re constructed, and there probably isn’t any need to dwell on it!

It wouldn’t be health, though, to be overly scrupulous, as every part of you is God’s creation. The fact that you do have that response does mean you are creating a possible occasion of sin when you don’t actually need to!

You will probably never need to. If you ever needed surgery due to hernia or whatever, medical professionals would take care of the shaving.

I really do think from your postings that you have an innocent heart and shouldn’t worry too much, but for the record, the advises us

Believe it or not, this is all a very normal part of human development. Nearly everyone experiences seemingly odd behaviors when the body begins to mature. Your hormones are at higher levels right now than they ever might me as an adult because they help the body grow and develop. Your said it right: “curiously” is the reason you are doing this. It’s really not any different than staring into the mirror and checking for beard growth or finding new chest hair. But you really don’t want to make it a habit because it can become an occasion for self-admiration.

Don’t worry about it so you won’t become distressed and anxious about your sexuality. The erection is nothing more than a physical response to the hormones raging through your young body. At your age, even riding in an elevator can cause them! The next time you find yourself doing this just remind yourself that God gave you a body and sexuality to share with a wife, raise a family and serve him. Then move on and do something productive with your day.

Do your best live a pure life and read your Bible regularly.

what tha…is this for real? All threads started by the OP deal with ejaculating by wearing compression shorts, getting erect while staring at them self in the mirror, and now the subject is sinful pubic hair styles…😃

There’s no sin in shaving hair where ever it may be on your body. Though with shaving down there, it’s just really odd and kind of taboo for guys in western cultures at least.
 
Probably not for someone who is pursuing a career in the adult arts, such as movies and gigalos…LOL just kidding
