I’m looking for a book series that talks about the history of the Catholic Church. I know there are many one volume summaries, but I’m looking for an extensive series.
Here is a free history book online (
here and
here)
A HISTORY OF THE CHURCH by the late Msgr. Philip Hughes.
This series is not to be confused with his “Popular History” (abridged version of above).
The following Msgr. Hughes bibliography is from
Wikipedia:

Sheed and Ward). [3]

- Volume III: The Revolt Against The Church. Aquinas To Luther.
- Hughes did not complete a planned fourth volume before his death.[3]

The Founding of Christendom Series by the late
Dr. Warren Carroll is another option. Here is a link to Vol. I-IV (
here). Vol. V
here. Vol. VI
here.
The last two books in the series was co-written by his wife who is a fine historian and author too, as Dr. Carroll was ill.
Vol. V in hard cover is asking over $700.00 on Amazon right now. You can snag the paperback for about $16.00
here which is about the same price it is on Amazon (for the PB).
Before embarking on Dr. Carroll’s series, you may first want to read a couple of books by his wife (Anne W. Carroll). *Christ The King Lord Of History: A Catholic World History from Ancient to Modern Times *and
Christ And The Americas
