Let me make sure I’m understanding you correctly. You are looking for a book with only the Gospels (not the rest of the Bible), and only those parts of the Gospels aroound which you could place quotation marks as being “words of Jesus”?

To answer your question, I would say I don’t know of any offhand, though there are many “red-letter” editions of the Bible that put Jesus’ words in red.

I have to say, though, that the whole concept sort of undermines the Catholic teaching on the inspiration of Scripture. All of Scripture is the Word of God, not just the parts that we put in quotation marks as “Jesus said…” or “God said…” Thus, all of Scripture is important.

Do you really feel that the words which Jesus ‘spoke’ when on earth in a physical body are somehow ‘set apart’ from the words He spoke through the entire Sacred Scriptures–that is, the Old Testament, and the various other books of the New Testament beside the 4 gospels not to mention the oral teaching and the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit leading us to all truth?

It seems to me that if you insist on cherry picking or extracting only a part of God’s word according to an imperfectly understood or conceived belief that this was ‘better’ than all the rest’ --or that you believe you could understand 'just those words" properly when set apart from the rest–that you’re going to wind up with a lot ‘less’ by thinking that ‘only’ the words of Jesus are a ‘lot more’.

Indeed.
My faith is very simple. Pray the Hail Mary. Somehow live the beatitudes. I believe the words of Jesus if honestly believed in, answer every historic and modern question.

Indeed, but are the words of Jesus limited only to the 'Red" found in the words He spoke as God-made-Man?

Historians and prophets are a dime a dozen. Long live the Saints.

Let me guess. . .when you put the “catholic” in your profile you meant ‘little c’. Not ‘big C’ as in you are not a member of the Catholic Church of the Latin rite and the 23 other rites in communion with the Pope. Am I correct?

Thank you. Im new, I corrected my profile.
Anyway, Yes I am Roman Catholic. I believe in the Pope, Mary, and Communion.
I just find that Jesus always has wise and brief answers.
Brevity is the sole of wit.

Jesus does have wise and brief answers. . .and wise and ‘long’ answers too. His Word is in all the Scriptures and in oral tradition (also part of our Catholic belief).

Have to give you credit for quoting Shakespeare though. Though the character who utters the line ironically is both long-winded and obscure in his own speech besides!

The only OT book I have liked is Ecclesiastes.
I need to read more on King Solomon, didnt he squander everything.
Wish he could of known Jesus.

But. . .King Solomon knew God. He spoke with God; in fact, God offered him a gift and Solomon chose wisdom.

Since Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity, Solomon ‘knew’ Jesus. Jesus didn’t just ‘come to life’ the day that He was born incarnate, not having existed ‘before’. . .

And Solomon knew the Spirit too. He’d have to. God is three Divine Persons but One God.
