Im a late in life (38) father of three that has had nudges off and on from God in different directions throughout my whole life. I obviously missed the boat for the Priesthood, though I have been supreemly blessed in both my marriage and family, so I think that I have followed the path God wants for me.
Im interested in the permanent deaconate, but probably NOT right away. I am thankfull for the souls that god has entrusted in me, and I dont want to do a half-hiney job at being a parent.
But later on, perhaps about ten years down the road, its a path i really want to explore. I feel its where I will end up eventually.
So between now and then, I want to prepare myself, in faith and scolarship. I have a strong personal relationship with God, and feel my faith is in a solid place, but I dont think that my understanding of Scripture, or of Curch history or early fathers is ready enough to teach others.
So while I am in the pre-Deaconate period, Id like to increase my Clerical knowledge so that when I do move twards serving my Church and God, i am well prepared.
Id also like to find a group or network of Deacons that I could ask some serious questions to, just so I can learn more about the Vocation. I have done some research on the internet, but the only Deacon groups I have found are only for Deacons that have already been ordained.
If anyone here could help point me in the directon of a web community that wouldnt mind me comming an asking some questions, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so very much.
