Hi all!

I’m hoping I post this thread in the right place.

I’m a new convert to Catholicism. (Well, sort of, since I’m about to start RCIA.) In a spirit of charity for my mother, since my family’s life has been very complicated and rather far from the Church in some ways – my older brother and my father are both agnostic, my older sister is of dubious spirituality – I was planning to get her a biography of St. Monica for Christmas. (I’m hoping as well that this will sow the seeds for her eventual conversion!) I’ve basically narrowed it down to between two books:

St. Monica and the Power of Persistent Prayer
by Mike Aquilina

or

Saint Monica: The Power of a Mother’s Love
by Giovanni Falbo, trans. Matthew Sherry

If any of you have read either of these books or possibly both of them I would be delighted to hear what you thought and about their possible strengths or maybe even weaknesses.

Thanks so much!

~Jonathan
