Looking for a Good Catholic Law School

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

So, I’m starting to apply to law school to start next fall, and one of the important factors in this decision is being able to continue to grow in my faith. I know that there are many Catholic universities that have law schools, and also that many of them are only nominal in their Catholicism. If anyone here could help me to separate the wheat from the chaff, as it were, I would be most appreciative.

Along those same lines, any secular university with some sort of support structure for Catholics, such as a great Newman Center, or the like.

I was offered a full-ride scholarship to St. Thomas and turned it down to attend a liberal Top 20 institution on a half-ride scholarship. I truly regret it. Based on my campus tours, school reputations, and my in-class experience at my liberal school, I feel that I would have been both more accepted and more inspired at St. Thomas.

I am not sure how ‘traditional’ Saint Thomas in Saint Paul Minnesota is, but you have the opportunity for daily mass, and other sacraments which is more tradtitional than most. I could have gotten a good scholarship there, as well as being close to my family, instead I chose a east coast school b/c of the prestige and experience (and for the program, but you know).

Even though I wish I had chosen a different school, all things are temporary. I guess everything is a learning experience. Good luck in your search.

The law school the is probably the MOST Catholic is Ave Maria In Naples Florida. My wife graduated from Ave Maria before it moved from Michigan and she loved it. You will get a great education in the natural law at Ave. The two priests that are at there are solid. I would definitely recommend visiting the school. Tom Monaghan, The Dominos Pizza guy, has basically built a town around Ave Maria University where the law school will end up. For the next few years, they are in a temporary location in the next City while funding is completed for the law school facilities.

Ave Maria is not your average diet Catholic law school, like most of the others out there

Catholic University of America has both a civil law and a canon law school.

I recall reading that Ave Maria is among those schools having the highest percentage of their Law graduates pass the licensing exam on their first try.
