Looking for a good parish in Jacksonville, FL

My sincere apologies if this is not the appropriate forum for this

I’m a 20 year-old in Jacksonville, FL, and I converted to Catholicism last year and have since have delved deeply into the faith. I just love it. Unfortunately, I’ve been having some trouble getting rooted with some like-minded Catholics in this area. I’ve having a lot of difficulty finding a middle ground between the liberal Catholics and the ultra-conservative Catholics. Unfortunately, I’ve also met too many cradle Catholics who seem to care very little about integrating the faith into their lives. I’m sure they’re out there, I just haven’t befriended them yet.

In short, I’m looking for a good, not-at-all-protestant parish and a group of fellow Catholics who are passionate about their faith in the Jacksonville, FL area. If nothing else, a study/discussion group would be great.

Do you actually plan to provide any information regarding the Jacksonville area, or are you just planning to pick apart my words? 😛

Either way, I would not like to delve very deep into this issue in this thread, but here are a few things that I watch out for in regards to “ultra-conservative” Catholics:
  1. Most religious conversations normally head toward the “issues arising as a result of Vatican II”
  2. Complain about girls being altar servers by using the argument that the purpose of the role is to be a sort of precursor to the priesthood while being okay with married men and/or boys who do not intend at all to pursue Holy Orders as altar servers.
  3. Prefer instructing others on their erroneous beliefs rather than furthering his/her own understanding of the faith
  4. Generally cranky and not fun to be around
That being said, I consider myself fairly traditional. I don’t want to feel like I’m going to a Baptist Church every Sunday, and I prefer the EF as well as Eastern Rite masses over the OF mass. I would go into more detail as to my “fairly traditionalness”, but I’m not sure that this is the place for it.

P.S. To be more price, I suppose I meant more along the lines of “ultra-traditionalist” than “ultra-conservative”. At the same time, I’d rather not be in cahoots with a group of warmongering conservatives, either, at least no more than I’d like to be associated with a gathering of socialist liberals 😃

I wish you were moving to Washington, DC instead! You’d love our parish. I hear Florida has some solid bishops so I hope you’ll like it there. I was going to suggest somewhere concrete but prettyfly beat me to it. Ask if they have a coffee and donut hour after Mass. In my experience, trads are very friendly when they have a cup of joe and something sweet at hand (isn’t everyone?)
