Yes. Oh and besides the Bible thank you lol.

Just wondering if there were any Catholic related books worth reading or is a must read that gives insight to our faith. Thanks.

A Travel Guide to Heaven by Anthony DeStefano

Creation Rediscovered by G.J.Keane

Theology and Sanity - Sheed

-twinc

“The Spirit of Mediaeval Philosophy” by Etienne Gilson.

Anything by Columba Marmion, especially Christ the Life of the Soul.

Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis
True Devotion by Louis de Montefort
Introduction to the Devout Life by Francis de Sales

*The Long Lonliness *by Dorothy Day
*A Persistent Peace *by Fr. John Dear
In Solitary Witness by I forget.

All great books about peace and helping the poor from a Catholic point of view.

The Life of Saint Gemma Galgani.

My latest read and I’m reading it again.

Dairy of a Russian Priest is very inspiring to me. He’s Orthodox, but nothing in the book contradicts Catholicism. I re-read this book periodically it’s very insightful.

And, if you like novels, any book by Michael D. O’Brien is excellent. (Ignatius Press)

Some of them are:

“Island of the World”

“A Cry of Stone”

“Strangers and Sojourners”

“Father Elijah”

there are many more…

I am fortunate to have a friend who has all his books and am almost finished with “Strangers and Sojourners”. In my opinion his books are beautifully written and very spiritually enlightening. I don’t like to “speed read” his books, because I would miss something.

Prayer Primer by Thomas Dubay,S.M.
Come Encounter Jesus by Fr. Cedric Pisegna

Introduction to Christianity by Pope Benedict XVI (as Cardinal Ratzinger)
God is Near Us by Pope Benedict XVI (as Cardinal Ratzinger)

Theology for Beginners by Frank Sheed (read before Theology and Sanity) Without this book, Theology and Sanity would have lost me, but you hopefully have a better understanding of theology than I.

**No King But Caesar **by Hugh Akins
Modern Wars in the Light of Catholic Teaching by Hugh Akins & Tom Gabriele

there are some good ones.

In addition to those great books and authors that the other people recommended (which I too am going to check those out and add to my little library):
The Spiritual Combat - Dom Lorenzo Scupoli
Deep Conversion/Deep Prayer - Fr. Thomas Dubay
7 Secrets of the Eucharist - Flynn (great book on the center of Christianity)
Heaven: The Hearts Deepest Longing - Peter Kreeft
Catholic Christianity - Peter Kreeft
God and the World - Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI)
The Joy of Knowing Christ - Pope Benedict XVI (his homilies on most Gospel readings)
The Dogma of Hell - Fr. Schouppe (that one gave me goosebumps! But it is real.)
The Lamb’s Supper - Scott Hahn
Butler’s Lives of the Saints - (short biographies of the saint of the day for the year)

Some good publishing companies (that I know of, anyway) for Catholic books and resources are:
TAN Books
Servant Books
Ignatius Press
Our Sunday Visitor
ICS Publications (International Carmelite Studies)
Veritas Series (these are booklets with excellent information for the Catholic and non-Catholic inquirer)
The Word Among Us Press

I hope these help.
