Looking for a specific Prayer to Holy Spirit

Hi everyone,

Hope I’m posting in the right place, I’m really not sure where this request would best fit.

I recently heard a beautiful prayer to the Holy Spirit and was told it is one we say at Pentacost, but I can’t remember it. Does anyone have any idea what this prayer might be or where I might find it.

My favorite . . .

Oh, Holy Spirit, Beloved of my soul, I adore thee;
Enlighten, guide, strengthen and console me.
Tell me what I must do, and help me to do it.
I promise to be submissive to all that You ask of me,
and to accept all that You permit to happen to me.
Let me only know Your will. Amen
 
on Pentecost we recite the Sequence, an ancient prayer from the earliest centuries of the Church, the words of which form the basis for most of hymns and prayers to the Holy Spirit, will do a search and come back here if I can find it.

these are modern words
it is actually a song, meant to be sung, but nowdays is usually recited

SEQUENCE FOR PENTECOST

(this is one of the oldest prayers in continuous use by the Church, it is over 1700 years old, and is meant to be sung or chanted)

Holy Spirit! Lord of Light!
From your clear celestial height,
Your pure beaming radiance give!

Come, Father of the poor.
Come, treasure which endures!
Come, Light of all that lives!

Thou, of all consolers best,
Visiting the troubled breast,
Dost refreshing peace bestow.

Thou in toil art comfort sweet;
Pleasant coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.

Light immortal! Light Divine!
Visit Thou these hearts of Thine
And our inmost being fill!

If Thou take Thy grace away
Nothing pure in man will stay
All his good is turned to ill.

Heal our wounds-our strength renew;
On our dryness pour Thy dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away!

Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Meld the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.

Thou, on those who evermore
Thee confess and Thee adore,
In Thy sevenfold gifts descent.

Give them comfort when they die;
Give them life with Thee on high;
Give them joys which never end. Amen
 
Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithfull enkindle in them the fire of your love…

I am fond of this one. It is sung softly and slowly in Hebrew:

Bo, Ruach Elohim,
u’male et nafshi
Hadrech otanu k’yeladim
Rak b’cha anu chafetzim
Anachnu mazminim
otcha lavo
Baruch haba, Baruch haba. Ruach Elohim,
Baruch haba, Baruch haba. Ruach Shalom

Come Holy Spirit come,

Show Your mercy and Your grace

There’s also St. Augustine’s prayer:

Breath in my oh Holy Spirit, that all my thoughts may be holy, etc.

Thanks everyone, sorry it took me so long to get back to you all. The prayer posted by IrishAm is the one I was looking for, but now I have so many choices - and all are beautiful.🙂
