Looking for biblical quote ..... sinful origins

I recall a homily from last lent / Easter time period where the priest quoted from scripture saying that Jesus was born under the law to save us from our sins because nothing from unlawful/sinful beginnings/origins can yield good fruit.

Can anyone supply that chapter & verse about nothing from unlawful/sinful beginnings/origins can yield good fruit? Thanks in advance.

The first part sounds like Galatians 4:4-5 - “God sent his son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law.”

The second part sounds like Matthew 12:33-35 - “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him."

Did anybody understand what the priest was saying? Did you?

I recall Paul having some thoughts like this: If the Law could save us, then Jesus didn’t have to die, and in fact Jesus’ death was unnecessary. But, the Law couldn’t save anybody, and Jesus’ death was needed to cinch the new covenant. But, I don’t recall where that discussion takes place, maybe in Romans.
