Hello! I have a friend who struggles to believe in God. Is there anyone here who may have a good book suggestion for me to give her? She’s Catholic, goes to weekly Mass and sends her kids to Catholic school, but struggles in her faith. Any suggestions? Thank you.
 
In Christianity? Or Catholicism specifically?
If Christianity, the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.
If Catholicism, 'Rome Sweet Home" by Scott Hahn
 
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn.

Both excellent. Both led me to Catholicism.
 
Age range? If she is in her 30’s or younger, Trent Horn’s work.

If she is older than that, perhaps Matthew Kelly.
 
Cardinal Sarah’s “The Power of Silence” helps me a lot and I imagine anyone who sometimes doesn’t know exactly what is so hard in contemporary world. It is a honest book, sometimes accusing us children of modernity and our despise for silence. But it definitely made me understand why after the daily frenzy and contemporary static I find it not easy to go toward Him. It is a mystical book. I can’t imagine anyone not being moved by it if one is not be honest with one’s self.

I’m reading that right now… Sarah is an amazing writer…

I’d like to see him be the next Pope
 
Sorry, I thought of more. Spiritual reading is honestly my favorite hobby.

Letters from the Desert by Carlo Carretto is also a personal favorite, particularly if she struggles with her prayer life.

Also The Gift of Faith by Tadeusz Dajczer.

Both from a Catholic perspective.

Another one that might help…the autobiography of St. Teresa of Avila. It helped Edith Stein.
 
Thank you all for the great suggestions. She struggles with believing that God exists - is it all a fairy tale or is it real? I’m no help to her as I sometimes struggle in my faith as well, but these book suggestions are a good start. Thank you all.
 
‘Mere Christianity’ by C.S. Lewis. It’s a perfect introduction to Christianity. It demonstrates the fact that morality is absolute and that we need a savior.

When I asked a holy priest, he said to read the gospels. When done with that, he said to read them again.
