What I’m looking for his any histories written in English of the churches in Western Ukraine and Ruthenia.
Any suggestions ?

The magnum opus of the history of the Union of Brest is Fr. Borys Gudziak’s book Crisis and Reform. This is an expansion of his excellent doctoral dissertation from Harvard.

Another good book is Metropolitan Andrew written by Cyril Korolevsky and available in an English translation from Eastern Christian Publications. A more recent account of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the underground is Passion and Resurrection by Serge Keleher and Confessor between East and West, a wonderful biography of Patriarch Josyp by Jaroslav Pelikan.

Seamus,

Christ is Born!

You might also try:

1.) Walter C Warzeski’s Byzantine rite Rusins in Carpatho-Ruthenia and America. It was published by Byzantine Seminary Press (1971).

2.) Fr. Lawrence Barriger’s Good Victory. Published by Holy Cross Orthodox Press (1985).

3.) Fr. Lawrence Barriger’s Glory to Jesus Christ. Published by Holy Cross Orthodox Press (2000).

While not dedicated to the Carpatho-Rusyn Greek Catholic Church in Europe these books do treat the subject and provide some interesting perspectives.

I heartily second Father Deacon’s suggestion to read Fr. Borys’ fine book.
