I’m a senior in high school and I’m doing my senior project on demonology. I need to include at least one interview with someone professional that has a lot of background information on the topic. I was hoping to find someone who has either performed or witnessed an exorcism or knows about how they are done. Since I don’t actually go to a church, I have no clue where to find someone like that. Help?!

If I were in that situation, I would go to your local parish, ask about that. I thought each diocese was supposed to have somebody who worked with that, aren’t they?

I’m curious about all that, myself. I heard we get to study exorcism in 7th year of my pastoral group. I am only in first year!

Why don’t you go to a priest in a church nearby? If you ask him, he may have some experience with it himself or at least he can be able to direct you to someone who does.
Most priests are quite helpful and like to talk to/ stay in touch with people outside the church too.

Good luck with this project of yours:)

Contrary to popular opinion, most Catholic priests have never performed an exorcism and never will. Your best bet is to get in touch with your local diocese and ask if someone can help you with your school project.

Read the book, “The Rite”. The movie was OK, but the book really tells it straight and you might find some leads on who to contact. I met the author, a priest, at a Spiritual Warfare Conference.

Interview With an Exorcist Paperback by Fr. Jose Antonio Fortea (here).

The Exorcist in the 21st Century ** (Video) This video has a very good interview on it (I think it has two interviews on the video but I have only seen one of them and it was quite insightful).

Live streaming here:

DVD here.

Powers and Dominions: Angels, Demons and Spiritual Warfare is also quite good (here).

PS: Nothing wrong with a good Catholic introduction in this area, but some people get overly focused on this type of subject. Beware of an unhealthy curiosity concerning these things.

God bless.

When I was young and asked my parish priest about excorcisms he told me not to worry about such things. I think it’s good advice.

OP, every Catholic diocese is supposed to have an exorcist on staff or on call. I don’t know if they would agree to be interviewed or not.

As a warning: many priests have not performed an exorcism; those who have usually don’t like to talk about it.

Performing an exorcism is very much like going into a very old, very bloody war. It’s ugly, it’s unfortunate, but it’s necessary. Just like veterans don’t always like to talk about what they’ve seen or done, exorcists often don’t like to talk about it.
