Just wondered if anyone had a favorite one. I’m reading the OT and wrote the names down from Exodus and Leviticus. I see there is also some difference later with the Joseph and Manasseh and Ephraim names.

What do you think of this one from the Jewish Virtual Library? I like the color graphics.

That’s a great site with a good history of the tribes and great graphics, too.

Thanks!

I thought they were the twelve sons of Jacob: Cannot remember them all. I thought one was Levi.

👍

To answer your question, my favorite Tribe is the Tribe of Judah – the Tribe of Praise, depicted by a male lion. I found a “flag” with each of the Tribe’s symbol. Hope the link works!

Thank you for the link. I really enjoyed it.👍

The twelve tribes are the descendents of Jacob’s (Israel’s) sons. In Genesis begin at 29:32 and read. Reuben is the first (by Leah) then Simeon, Levi and Judah. Next are two sons by Bilhah, Dan and Naphthali. Then Zilpah gave the patriarch two sons, Gad and Asher. Leah bore him Issachar and Zebulun. Finally Rachel gave him Joseph (his favorite) and Benjamin. Often mentioned among the tribes are the two half-tribes Manasseh and Ephraim who were the sons of Joseph (cf Gen 41:50-52).

Gen 49 recounts the blessing of Israels sons.
Reuben 3-4; Simeon and Levi 5-7; Judah 8-12; Dan 16-18; Naphthali 21; Gad 19; Asher 20; Issachar 14-15; Zebulun 13; Joseph 22-26; Benjamin 27. The half tribes are mentioned in 48:20.

I hope that this covers the territory sufficiently.

If my memory serves me right, Jesus is from the Tribe of Judah.

Thank you very much! 🙂 And everyone else as well. I’'m reading straight through - even though some say that’s not the best way to read the Bible, for me right now I just want to do it once. And I’ve been able to follow so far okay, although sometimes I’ll need to go back and re-read some “who’s who” in a book or chapter I’ve already covered. I have some study aid books too that summarize and those should be helpful.

I want something with the 12 Tribes to put on my wall; that will be a nice devotional and also a memory aid. :yup: :bible1: :coffeeread:
