Looking for ideas - advanced preschool home catechism

My preschooler is very advanced for her age. So much so that, at 3.5 years, her teacher recommended I have her test for kindergarten. I politely declined. I think that even if she is smart enough, she is still 3.5 She thinks like a 3 year old, she socializes like a 3 year old, and she CERTAINLY has the emotions of a 3 year old (yikes ;)).

Now, I am looking for ideas for catechism for her here in the home. I have been doing my own thing with her, and I may stick with it, but I have been looking around to see if there is anything more structured. What I’ve found online are things like learning the sign of the cross or the Lord’s Prayer, but we’ve really got that down. We do a weekly bible story and I try to make a theme of it that is very child friendly (like Adam and Eve and listening to God and our parents) and we do different activities around that theme throughout the week, but I’m really running short on ideas.

Does anyone have suggestions? Even a curriculum, maybe?
 
Ignatius Press has a curriculum for pre-k and K, called “Who Am I.” It is part of the Image of God catechesis series, and it is what I use for K. The Saint Joseph Picture Books are wonderful, and have great pictures (which preschoolers love), but I’ve always thought of them as more appropriate (intellectually) for early elementary kids. Maybe she would be ready for those now or soon? The Faith and Life series (also from Ignatius Press) is great, and starts in 1st grade - not sure if she would be ready yet, but maybe soon. Of course there might come a point when the academic ability is far beyond the spiritual maturity, in which case, you might prefer to not speed through a curriculum ahead of time, and instead take the extra time you have for wonderful enrichment. Lots of books about the saints, learning the prayers (there is always something more to memorize), spending time on daily devotions, etc… Go to the websites for Catholic Heritage Curricula and Seton Home School and you can browse through a number of great books that would be appropriate to use. Have fun with it. 🙂

If she is really advanced, perhaps even the Ignatius Press religious education curriculum Faith and Life for Grade 1.
 
I use * My First Catechism* by St. Joseph Picture Books.

This is the kindergarten catechism, but I use it with my kids from birth.

For First Communion preparation, I use St. Joseph First Communion Catechism.

I use this one as well, in conjunction with the other catechisms I mentioned. It is a good book with lesson plans and pattern sheets for activities and there are even nice workbooks you can order.
 
I use the Faith and Life series which start with 1st grade.

It appears that everyone has already mentioned the best ones! I am obviously late to the party, but I second what everyone else said. 👍
