Looking for Info on Calvary Chapel

Can anyone tell me about Calvary Chapel and, in particular, Pastor Bob Coy of Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale?

I’m looking for any information you can offer.

and should give some info. I’ve had some dealings with a Calvary pastor here. They are very Bible centered and focus heavily on Rapture theology. They also believe some of the same things Catholics do such as the Trinity.

Calvary Chapel is essentially a Baptist church wrapped up into “non-denominational” so that they can get new members. I’ve been to one here and it seems that the pastor focused on “being saved” for the whole sermon.

I did a Bible study with this pastor because some friends of mine asked me. (I’m not sure if we’re friends anymore because I quit the study after getting sick of hearing about the Rapture and that we’re in the endtimes and the pastor’s strict literal interpretation of the Book of Daniel and Revelation.) I had to quit because I don’t agree with his theology. He and his wife were nice and hospitable but not someone I want be around because we hold different views and theology.

Side note, the pastor left the Catholic Church years ago. Sadly, probably because he was poorly catechized and little emphasis on faith formation.

I believe he was trying to convert me but I saw through the flaws and holes in their theology very fast. I could never not be Catholic.

I pray for them because God can change their hearts and minds better than I ever could. I pray that they see the Truth.
