Is there a website or book that gives a good overview of this vocation? Was just curious for some general info, history, responsibilities, etc. I know that there are a few deacons who post here frequently. Can anyone point in the right direction. I am speaking of permanent deacons, by the way. Thanks and God bless!

A good starting point would be the webpage of the USCCB Secretariat of the Diaconate usccb.org/deacon/. Bookmark it and then explore the various links. If you live in a cold climate state, you will find enough solid reading material to pass the rest of winter.

Many diocesan offices of the diaconate have web pages. Though they generally duplicate what you will find at the USCCB, many present additional useful material.
