I think that you are looking for controversy. The poster made clear that it is her intention to gather the correct information. Maybe, she has to proper attitude of informing herself before saying something is done in the right manner or in the wrong one
Yay! Someone who gets it! :clapping: Thanks, Cristiano:)

And what about people who want to receive Holy Communion from the priest? Do we have that right?

I was not aware that we, the laity, have a right to our own “personal wish” about the way the liturgy of the Mass is celebrated.

Can. 212 §1. Conscious of their own responsibility, the Christian faithful are bound to follow with Christian obedience those things which the sacred pastors, inasmuch as they represent Christ, declare as teachers of the faith or establish as rulers of the Church.
§2. The Christian faithful are free to make known to the pastors of the Church their needs, especially spiritual ones, and their desires.
§3. According to the knowledge, competence, and prestige which they possess, they have the right and even at times the duty to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church and to make their opinion known to the rest of the Christian faithful, without prejudice to the integrity of faith and morals, with reverence toward their pastors, and attentive to common advantage and the dignity of persons.

Your reasoning is incorrect in that you consider Holy Communion to be the reception of the Host only. When Holy Communion is given under one kind, this is true. When Holy Communion is given under both kinds, it is not. By the priest distributing the Chalice, you are receiving Holy Communion from the priest. There was a time when it was thought that receiving the Host alone, without the Chalice, made the Sacrament ‘less’. Let’s not go in the direction of thinking that the Host is ‘less’, because it is not being given by a priest.

🙂

I am fully aware that Jesus is present under both species. 🙂 I never drink from the chalice because of the potential for germs causing illness.

This same priest once told me that if you were to walk into a restaurant and there was a half glass of wine left on the table, would you drink from it after simply wiping the rim? I share with him the concern for exposure to germs by sharing the same cup as everyone else. 🙂

Hi everyone - it’s been a few years since I’ve posted on here, and I need a little help finding some information. I am looking for links to Church documents that specify how Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are to be used.

I also want to know if it is acceptable for the priest to frequently allow the EMHC to give out the Hosts while he stands off to the side with the Chalice. Is anyone aware of any Church guidelines on this issue?

I used to have this stuff at my fingertips when I posted here regularly, so I am hoping that someone here can help me find the info I need.

God bless! 🙂
While it is not the usual way things are done, I have never seen any document forbidding it.

That said, it may be his way of forcing the congregation to receive from an EMHC – I know our former pastor used to talk about how it was EMHCs’ right to be there and I kept arguing that they had no such right.

He actually told me he came from a parish that served Holy Communion under one kind, and when he got here, it was under both kinds. So he chooses to take the Chalice because some of the EMHC feel slighted when they are placed off to the side with the Chalice. He is hoping to teach them them by this act, that Jesus is truly present under both species. I asked why he doesn’t just deliver that information in a homily or two - that way the whole congregation can benefit from the teaching. 🤷

The EMHCs feel slighted!?!?!?! At being allowed the great privilege of giving out the Precious Blood to the congregation?!? Poor babies! They need some serious teaching about their role and exactly Whom it is that they are holding in the chalice. 😦

Helpful post dude, Same question that I wanna asked. So its my pleasure to have this thread.
Thanks man.
