I’m looking for the NAB Catholic Serendipity Bible…

Does anyone have this book and want to offer it to a new Men’s study group. I can’t find a copy anywhere :o

What is it?

(And no, I don’t have one to offer…)

(…obviously…)

This excellent resource seems, unfortunately, to be of print (I have one but I’m not giving it up —Sorry! 😊 ). The only one I can find on-line is at Amazon.com and they want $172 for it.

One of the local Catholic bookstores here in Arizona had one on their shelf at the original price last time I was in there. If you send me a private message, I’ll give you their phone number and, if they still have it, maybe they’ll ship it to you.

It was a NAB published by the Protestant publisher Zondervan. It didn’t have the annoying footnotes and introductions found in most NABs, but had pages and pages of life application helps for personal and group study aimed at specific groups like men, teens, couples, etc as well as topical studies about marriage, relationships, etc. Considering that it was published by Protestants, it managed to not have any verbiage that conflicted with Catholic belief or practice. Here is a further description:

Apparently there wasn’t enough interest among Catholics for them to keep publishing this (shame, really), but I have found it an invaluable and reliable resource.

***Hi, snuccio!
(Italian for what?)

Is that the actual title NAB Catholic Serendipity Bible?

I have an NAB Personal Study Edition – if they are the same you can have it; it is in excellent condition–only thing is that I was using it as a resource book and my name or initials are written on several places.

If it is the Bible you’re looking for just let me know where to send it.

Thanks for the offer…

That’s not exactly what I’m looking for, but you are gracious for the offer.

BTW It’s part of my surname…

***Hi, snuccio!

…thought it was a discriptive term (i.e.: rascal, slick, slim…). 😛

I too am looking for a copy of this study Bible. The men’s group I belong to get some of their lessons from this Bible. It is used as a resource, as study Bibles that are approved translations are our main source of reading.

The online sites I’ve visited want an arm and a leg for it. Obviously it’s out of print and those that have or can obtain one can ask the prices they do.:, therefore I ask for assistance.

Thanks,

apw

Hi, apw!

…I’ve just checked on-line, here’s what I’ve found:
…I hope this helps–if you get one that’s affordable and in fair condition I suggest that you promptly scan it into your computer, download it to cd/dvd, and use the actual Bible only for the meetings… that way your main personal study (computer/cd/dvd) will not take additional toll on the Bible!

Thanks for the quick reply. I had looked at those sites before, but was a little skeptical of what I’d get. The term my parents taught me many years ago “buyer beware” immediately came to mind. Just wanted to have what others in the group had:)

Hi, Pat!

I understand… like the old “…if it sounds too good, it is!”

I’ve shopped at Amazon before… can’t speak for all sellers, but my experience has been good–I’ve never gotten any static from a returned item and the funds have been returned to my account promptly… though if you would want to minimize any loss, get a disposable credit card–the minimun amount allowed–and use any balance expediently.

…as for the condition of the Bible… just make sure you print the sellers page where it describes the title and condition of the Bible… as long as the Bible is complete (no missing pages) you could always do some self-repair (binding)–it may be possible to purchase an inexpensive kit at an art/craft store.

Good hunting!
