I also suggest contacting Sam_777. He’s a Saudi Arabian convert from Islam and he has access to Arabic translations of the Koran.

The Fr. should supply his prisoners with sources about Islam which are authentic.

Islamicity.com, islamonline.net, and islam1.org are a few I would recommend.

The Qur’an is available all over the internet and in bookstores as well. I prefer searchquran.net as it’s very useful for me, searchable with many translations. The best book on hadith for beginners though is Riyadh us-Saliheen, available at witness-pioneer.org/vil/hadeeth/riyad/default.htm. Towards Understanding Islam is another great resource, also available online at witness-pioneer.org/vil/Books/M_tui/.

These are good and authentic books which don’t require a tremendous amount of background knowledge.

If the Fr. actually distributed the sources you provided, Euch, I would be very much ashamed to know that Catholic were spreading hatred. It’s also rather sad to know that a Fr. has to go to the internet for information.

Woww , thanks . Do you have any specific topic in mind ?

May be , you can tell them how Muslims respect both Mother Mary & Jesus (peace be upon them). We don’t utter their name without wishing blessing of God Almighty on them . It’s a sign of respect to them. We believe in the Virgin birth , second coming of Jesus (pbuh) etc.

You may tell them that a whole chapter in holy Quran is dedicated to Mother Mary (pbuh) . Chapter 19 .

I did not watch this documentary as my internet speed is slow , this is about Jesus (pbuh) in Islam … Supposed to be good .

There is nothing shameful about a priest seeking information from the net or from the laity. Feedback is important so as to avoid bias and one-sided views during his sermon. Sometimes its the laity who is more informative on other subjects such as comparative religions. I’ve been to Islamic forums where stubborn sheikhs and imams have made embarrassing mistakes concerning their own religion - despite being told by several Muslim members they were wrong about their information. By the way, Fr Ryan said parishioner, not “prisoner”.

Father Ryan,

The official qur’an from the Saudi Arabian Government’s Religious Department is available online, with both the Arabic and English. Just a warning, the navigation buttons are the reverse of what we would use, ie the forward button goes back. 😃

Then there are the tafsirs which are authentic explanations for the qur’an. Also available in English. I have two Ibn Kathir, this is a good one, however, you have to search for the verse in the surahs. The drop down box lists the surahs by number and name.

The other one has 3 authentic scholars available in a drop down list. The first thing you have to do on this sight is press the button that says “English”. There is al-Jalalayn, who is a good source, and two others. This site is easier to navigate to the actual verse.

–ome of our evangelical brothers have done an incredible amount of research and are very experienced with debating. Sam Shamoun of Answering Islam is on Youtube, and he’s got some good videos I’d recommend to watch. I thought I’d subscribed to him, I’ll search for his Youtube site. But here is the link to his articles specifically on Christianity and Islam.
 
Almost forgot Father Zakaria. 😊

This is a link to a site called MohammadTube where about 50 of Father Zakaria Botros’ TV shows which are aired in the Middle East and are very successful at converting muslims. He covers all topics and in a very caring way. There is an audio in English. You can also download his papers on which the shows are based on his website.

There’s lots of good sources online, Father, but I think these are a good start for your parishioners.🙂

Of Course , it’s not shameful . Sis did not mean the Father but Eucharisted . He suggested him to contact Sam . Why one needs to contact him for holy Quran ? It’s avaialble everywhere .

As Father is asking , we must provide him authentic Islamic sources , not anti-Islamic hateful sites like Answering Islam . I hope , after reading the signature of the participants , he will also understand who is suggesting what .

May I kindly suggest you have your eyes checked, dear, it seems you’re not reading properly.

As pointed out to you, it’s parishioners, not prisoners - I’m sure that wasn’t deliberate on your part.

Also, Father is requesting so he can pass the information onto his parishioners, who may want information that is freely available and easily accessible (at least initially). Eurcharisted and I have given very good places to start for a Christian.

Further, I am sure Father Ryan can determine for himself the quality of all the sites provided by us and the value thereof to his parishioners.
 
Robert Spencer’s Blogging the Qur’an is excellent as well. He’s gone through every chapter and discussing each with the explanations behind it.

Mmmm, okay, that’s it, I think.

I think Fr. Ryan is asking for “Online Resources Responding to Islam” not “Online Resources Explaining Islam”. 😉

And the sites provided by chrisse & Eucharisted particularly "www.answering-islam.org" are good sites to start, however, if Fr. Ryan wants more answers, then he can post his questions in this CAF forum and he would get answers from both sides.

I hope , Fr. Ryan does not have any evil intention. No one should visit a hateful site like answering Islam . The so-called Christians are spreading lies there . Surely it’s not a sign of a good follower of Jesus (pbuh).

Why would someone provide the Saudi Government translation of the Qur’an, and hail it as “authentic,” and yet point to some bogus non-Muslim nobody in order for the interpretation of it?

Seems inconsistent…

Parishioners… prisoners… ROFL.

There are plenty of Muslim sources available on Islam, without having to resort to haters.
