Who are some Saints who’s stories involve them being converts to the faith from positions where their conversions caused unrest among their heathen relatives? For example: St. XYZ was born to some big name person in the Pagan world like a king or something and their conversion irked that person so much that St. XYZ died a martyr or that XYZ’s conversion lead to the conversions of others including that pagan bigwig?

And are there any books on particular Saints in this category that I could give to those dicerning joinIng Catholicism so that they might be inspired to jump head long into Jesus’ loving arms?

Many, many Saints fall into this category. But since we just celebrated St. Stephen’s feast day – the first martyr - let’s talk about St. Paul. Acts 7:58 tells us Saul was present at Stephen’s stoning and Acts 8 tells how Saul was trying to destroy the Church. Then in Acts 9, Saul has an encounter with Jesus and his life is forever changes. When Saul-Paul then begins to proclaim the Good News, the people are astounded and confused. “Is not this the man who in Jerusalem ravaged those who call upon this name, and came here expressly to take them back in chains to the chief priests?” (v21). When Paul arrived in Jerusalem, the disciples were afraid of him – in total disbelief that he was now a disciple.

Catherine of Alexandria. Feisty little Saint. 😃

Actually, most of the early female martyrs.

Oh, I love Catherine of Alexandria…I’ve forgotten much about her, though. Along the lines of this thread, I’m starting to like St. Kateri Tekawitha and need to learn more about her.

While not causing unrest among heathen relatives, St. Edith Stein - Teresa Benedicta of the Cross’s canonization certainly caused problems among the Jewish community

Some martyr saints became the patron saints of their countries. 😃
