Looking for something in the CCC

I have my copy here, I just can’t find exactly what I’m looking for…on another forum posters are saying that they’re “Catholic” but they don’t have to believe/agree with what the Pope/bishops say, or follow all the teachings. Can someone tell me where to locate the section that disproves that sentiment? Thanks

**These poor, misinformed & well meaning people are not Catholic. They are ‘catholic’ in name or heritage only, but Jesus loves them & His Infinite Mercy gives us all a chance to repent & believe in the Gospel!!!

this is in reference to dogma but Christians are required to adhere to the doctrines as well.

**For your consideration…I think 2039 is the “silver bullet”…at least it is for me in my doubts and struggles with “self” versus the Church’s teachings.

The two “truth tellers”… for me…****-(1) when someone is near death or has died…who am I going to call and who am I going to believe/follow…my conscience or the Church? Nothing quickens the heart, the mind and the will…better or more vigorously than imminent death or death itself arriving on the doorsteps of our own personal life or in the life of someone very dear and very close to us.

-(2) if I disagree with the Church on something…do I pray over it and study/seek to understand not just “what” the Church is teaching/saying…but especially the “why” behind the Church’s pronouncement(s)!..or do I summarily dismiss it as something I can ignore…simply by not putting it on my “plate of beliefs”!

Also see the Rite of Reception in the Easter Vigil Mass [right after the renewal of Baptismal Promises] for those who are already baptized and wish to become Catholic:

Candidates: I believe and profess all that the Catholic Church believes, teaches, and proclaims to be revealed by God.

That is what defines one as a Catholic.
