Has anyone ever seen one of these, and if so where can I get a print of one? I’ve looked everywhere I can think of, but with no luck. I would love to put it in my cubicle.

Probably not. St. Joseph the Worker is a Western devotion to St. Joseph. You’d notice that St. Joseph isn’t really as prominent in the East as he is in the West. There are not a lot of icons of him.

Since it is a Western and a farily recent idea icons of St. Joseph the Worker might be scarce. Still, icons have been pretty solidly adopted in the West by now (though not as prominently as in the East were they developed, and perhaps still with a trace of a feeling of the exotic) and St. Joseph the Worker is popular, so I would be surprised if no one has thought of making an icon of him.

Google Printery House and get on their website. They have one that you might be able to use. There is also one of the Holy Family in a work setting.

St. Joseph is a rare subject for an ikon, HOWEVER, they are there.

He usually depicted holding 2 turltle doves and sometimes a scroll. He is not depicted as a worker as he is in the West. He considered the husband of Mary.

Here’s a link to a nice ikon:

If you do search for St. Joseph ikons, please make sure they are not from Monastery Icons.

Hope this helps.

I had read an article that claimed the group that produces “Monastery Icons” is involved in occult practices and is, basically, a bit wacky and spiritually dangerous. Since I have a couple of their small icons at home – and they’ve been blessed by our parish priest – I’ve wondered if anyone else had heard/read about this group. Any information or thoughts would help. The icons produced by this group seem to be quite popular.

Thanks and God bless,
Dan

If you have “Monastery Icons” that are blessed, that is fine. However, do not purchase anymore from them. The article you read is correct. I know Orthodox Christians that have thoroughly researched the issue and it is true. Monastery Icons has gone to many lengths to keep their history quite.

Thank you, Zekariya. Other than for monetary reasons, I don’t understand why people with beliefs counter to Christianity would market icons that, presumably, are used to help Christians in their prayer lives. However, the icons are very popular and probably generate a lot of profit for that group.
