Hello everyone! I am going to make a website, or a directory rather, of religious orders, Societies of Apostolic Life, congregations, Mendicant orders, lay associations, confraternities, etcetera in all Commonwealth (British Commonwealth, ie: Canada, the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland: they will have their own sections), Australia, etc) countries. I am going to do that first, and maybe then do the US, I am unsure as there aren’t many websites like this. Anyhow, Googling them all is a lot of work, and frankly, I haven’t the time. So, if anyone knows of any, please post them here! Thank you everyone. Your work will NOT go unrecognised!

God Bless :signofcross::byzsoc:

Well, the Society of Apostolic Life is my speciality, so let me get on! 🙂 I will contribute only those societies which have a verifiable website and are canonically regular.

Secular Clergy:

Missionary Society of Saint Paul the Apostle: Paulists - paulist.org/
Oratory of Saint Philip Niri: Oratorians - oratoriosanfilippo.org/ (Italian)
Companions of the Cross: Companions - companionscross.org/
Society of Saint-Sulpice: Sulpicians - sulpicians.org/ (American)
Society of the Catholic Apostolate: Pallottines - sac.info/
Congregation of the Mission: Lazarists - cmglobal.org/

Lay:

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul: Vincentians - ssvpglobal.org/
Company of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul: filles-de-la-charite.org/ (International directory)

Dedicated to the Extraordinary Form of the Mass

Institute of the Good Shepherd: institutdubonpasteur.org/
Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter: fssp.org/ (International directory)
Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest: icrsp.org/accueil.htm (French)

It’s difficult to give many Societies of Apostolic Life their own official web-page, since many of them are based on a system rather like Cluny’s monastic web. The Oratorians, for example, have many independent oratories across the world, loosely bound by the ideals of the Society. One website could not suffice for them; you’d have to show Brompton, Birmingham, and Oxford oratories to cover only the English side…

I’ve not included SSPX or SSPV until the one is regular and the other is… um… 😉

The only orders with which I know or work with are both based in Bradford, within the Diocese of Leeds, UK.

They are:
  • Holy Family Sisters of Bordaeux - members are abbreviated as HF (I think!)- click here
  • The Community of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal - friars are abbreviated as C.F.R. - click here
Both the HFS and the CFRs are canonically regular (the latter being a Can. 607 §2 religious institute - atleast I’m sure this is the section of canon law they come under).

I accidentally came across this website from the Vatican listing international associations of the lay faithful, I have a feeling it will be of use to you… 🤷

Hope this helps and wish you well for a successful outcome (or atleast ongoing success) of the project, which I’m sure has Our Heavenly Father’s paternal blessing!

May God bless you in this work! 😃

I forgot to add, links to individual chapters is preferable, so I can divide them into area, county, town or city, in which Province/Territory/County in which Country. Thanks, also GloriousOrder, your list is truly helpful! I would love to know if this would be of any interest to anyone as well!

Thank you OJB!

No one has anything else? Remember, I need Australia and New Zealand and Scotland and Wales! Any commonwealth realm.

Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer (formerly Transalpine Redemptorists)(F.Ss.R).
They are not yet canonically erect, but will be in the near future (within a year I hope) and are in good standing with the Church.
