Hi,

I recently started the annulment process. One week from today will be the tenth “anniversary” of my divorce being final. I finally started the process because my ex-husband had been separated from his second wife for about two years and I, completely out of the blue, without expecting it or looking for it, started hoping we would get back together. As it turns out, at the same time I was thinking that, he was thinking about getting back with his second wife, and that is what he decided to do. I feel I need an annulment now to get beyond that feeling of wanting to get back with him. We will get the annulment, I am quite sure, because of difficulties when we were first married that I won’t get into now. The only thing that would hold us up would be if we don’t have witnesses.

I am having a terribly emotional time with this whole thing. It would have been easier if I had never wanted to get back with him and just wanted to move on. I would be so grateful if someone who has had an annulment could comment on how they felt as they went through it, so I can feel that what I’m going through is normal. I am not seeing anyone as I would never want to go through what I’ve seen other people going through, wanting to get married but having to wait for an annulment. I don’t want to meet anyone until after the annulment is granted. By the way, I’m 52 years old and while I’d like to meet someone, I know it is not likely that I will.

I have never had an annulment myself but I have “walked” thru it with two close friends and both times, while a bit painful, it was very healing. With the difficulties you mentioned, it may not be as big a problem as you might think. God Bless, Memaw
