I’m beginning RCI and very excited about it. I appreciate the information on the Adoration and The Rosery. Can some one answer this: a non catholic friend told me the church will do a background check on me before I’m allowed to be a member, is this true?
Technically they do. When I went through RCIA, it was found out that one of the women there had a husband who had already been married once before. Because of that, she was unable to be confirmed as a Catholic and is currently going through an anullment process first.

You might get a dirty look if your children are noisy but I really don’t think that happens that often. It has never happened to me. People often say to me how they love to see children at mass and not to worry about a bit of noise. My husband and I take the boy out when he is too noisy but most sundays we manage to get through most of the mass without the need to go out.

I think it’s lovely that they want little ones involved in the Mass. I’ve always wondered why children should be in the nursery, God is for everyone, not just adults right? Glad to know that the Catholic church supports that.
Old churches were designed without a “cry room”. Actually the cry room is a recent architectural improvement. Most churches for centuries did not have them. But children were always welcome and parishioners were generally tolerant with the noise that children make. But you are right, God is for everyone. And it is good for children to go to church with their parents. I know that their experiences in the church (including their misbehavior) give rise to many opportunities for children to ask questions and for parents to teach lessons in doctrine and in conduct.

I go to daily Mass and one day I counted how many children and adults were there.

There were 15 children and approx. 30-35 adults.

Our daily Mass averages between 40-60 in attendance. And we are a small parish. Not all in attendance are from our parish, they just like our daily service better than the one at the other parish. That one is held is a side chapel and ours is in the church itself.

I haven’t yet been to a Catholic church, but I have heard that they don’t often have nurseries for young children, so I’m glad that at least some have a way to address when little ones don’t want to sit for that long. Is there a particular reason that Catholic churches in general don’t have a nursery? Especially with the encouragement to not interfere with God’s intention for children to be the product of marriage?
Newer churches would have a separate room with big glass enclosures and speakers…and you can still view what it going on in the mass.

Also, Catholic churches have everyday masses, you just need to find out the time. If you missed adoration, you can find the time to go to one of these daily masses…and they are not an hour, but last about 30 minutes.
