Good. I’ll see you in court. I’ll bet your attorneys are working by the hour, and not on commission. 😃

I also bet that your attorneys have set up the contract so that you are responsible for paying any Rule 11 penalties for frivolous filing.

I hope that you’re filing in California, where SLAPP laws apply to people who abuse the legal process to trample others First Amendment rights.
LOL, big words that don’t address anything, but just so you know,
  1. No, they are not working by the hour. Even if they were, we can afford it.
  2. It is up to them where they file, they went to law school etc. that’s what they’re paid for. As far as trampling First Amendment Rights, be careful, because that sword cuts both ways.
You really should get your blood pressure checked. I don’t want you to have a stroke. You seem to be really upset again.

You’re quite the cynic. I guess we don’t share enough values re right and wrong to have any meaningful conversation.

Thank you for your no doubt heartfelt and sincere concern about my health.

Please let me know the case number if anything ever gets filed. I’d love to follow it. My guess is that your [cough] “attorneys” are gambling on election year politics with Romney to try to extort a settlement.

It’s not “baptizing the dead,” it’s a proxy baptism. Physically it doesn’t involve the other party any more than you praying for someone else.
Same thing. Try going to lds.org and searching for “baptism for the dead”. It definitely doesn’t come up with “no search results found”
How so? Has someone fed you the line that the records don’t distinguish between someone that converted, versus someone that had the work done with them posthumously? Have you looked into that? 🤷
How about the fact that those records aren’t available to the general public. Did someone feed you a line telling you that they were? Have you looked into that? 🤷
Shrieking and sensationalism are words that describe the hatemongering articles that started this whole argument.
You must be using a different dictionary than the rest of the world. Since when is exposing the truth hatemongering? You’ve made a HUGE leap with that one.
The purpose of the work for the dead is to do the work for every human being that ever lived, and allow them to accept or reject those ordinances in the next life. If you think that should be illegal, then take us to court. The church leaders should never have engaged in this discussion; they are too nice and accommodating, and should have known that they were being set up.
Then since your own first presidency wasn’t smart enough to figure that out, should they be running the church? I’m surprised you’re not their legal and scriptural counsel.
No one is forcing our work for the dead on anyone.
Ummmm that’s exactly what you’re doing, or have you not been paying attention? Have you never heard the phrase "Let the dead rest in peace?

But then again, your comparison of the Eucharist and Baptisms of the dead was waaaaaay off.

Actually, my concern for your health was genuine. I don’t hold any ill will toward you at all.

Trust me, if/when it gets filed, I’m sure there will be plenty of media attention.

Finally, this has been in place for several years, and has nothing to do with Romney, but nice try.

BTW, I’m not cynical (I’m using dictionary.com’s definition) at all, please stop with the whole persecution card. It’s been done, it’s tired, and so last year.

Why don’t you put some more a’s into that word, and see if it makes you more persuasive.

How are our Baptisms for the dead not letting the dead rest in peace? Either
  1. our baptisms have no effect (in which case you just harassing us for our private religious beliefs) or
  2. our baptisms do have effect, in which case, to borrow Gamaliel’s phrase, you’re fighting against God.
Either way, you’re not a true American or a good Christian.

A scheme to “buy souls” 😃
“These claims go beyond all human reason and many even pass the limits permitted the devil”
-Alonzo Salazar Y Frias

This hysterical hatemongering is an embarrassment to the noble history of your church, Jharek. Alonso Salazar y Frias, of the Spanish Inquisition, would be ashamed that you’ve posted this on a Catholic Answers Forum.

Given the standards that Alonzo Salazar Y Frias instituted, the hysterical charges that you have made would not even pass the scrutiny of the Spanish Inquisition.

I do not think that they will pass an American Court.

Still have me on ignore, Jharek? 😃

Do you care that the charges are a disgrace to the rational history of the Catholic tradition? That even the Spanish Inquisition would be embarrassed by the credulous superstition of your hateful accusations?

Soul-stealing? Remind me again, what century are we in?

You know, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, right up to the point where you question my patriotism, or my Christianity.

You have just stepped over a line, and you should be ashamed of yourself in more ways than one.

For your information buster, I fought for this country, or haven’t you been paying attention to my signature line. I fough for all of the good and bad in it. I may not agree with alot of things in this country, but I stood up to defend it. How dare you. How sad that you have to take such a pathetic shot while hiding behind a computer screen.

I have have seen too many of my brothers and sisters in arms die for people like you, and you have the audacity to question someone’s patriotism?

You are a sad, sad individual, and just so you know, that pot-shot post of yours is being reported to the moderators, and I hope everyone else on this board does the same thing.

By the way, who left the judgement of determining who is a good American or Christian up to you?

You however have embodied every mormon stereotype ever spoken. You should be proud on so many levels.

With good reason. They are a part of the Deposit of Faith, the witness of faithful through the age that the records cover. Being a witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Church and her mission, and the faithful lives that are recorded.

While I don’t believe LDS baptisms for the dead actually do anything, they are used to further the mission of a church whose mission is outside of the Catholic Church. They are also used by LDS faithful to turn the witness of Catholic faithful to a hopeful witness against the faith that people held, and twist the current state of the dead into a witness for Mormonism. Made visible in this world by the work that Mormons are doing.

There is no reason for a Catholic or the Catholic church to support this.

Hey, Cowboy…in case you missed this…from post 69, I would like your reply:

Regarding D and C 50 and Mormon doctrine:

Going to what you stated…why do you question it now? Wasn’t this policy already instituted with common consent before?

And being the hierarchy…don’t the hierarchy institute policies based on already approved guidelines?

So why question it if they instituted a policy based on previously approved guidelines?

Cowboy Pete…Jharek posted a news article. It is an event…a true event…otherwise, a newspaper would not post it.

It seems you cannot accept the truth of what the LDS is actually doing. To me, based on what I read in that article…it is very offensive and insensitive.

Instead of hurling insults here, you should be in the phone and call the LDS HQ and lodge your complaint there…ok!👍

You know, this last part struck me as odd. Why would a soul be still choosing? Unless the LDS believes the souls would like the opportunity to become their gods in their own planets?

Pablope, my wife and my three beautiful sons left me three weeks ago. If I had a billion planets full of worshipers, I would give them up in a heartbeat to have my wife and sons back with me. I doubt there’s a mormon husband or wife, father or mother, out of a hundred that would disagree with me.

Cowboy,

I’m sorry to hear about your family, to say that’s heart breaking doesn’t come close to describing it, words fail. You have my sympathy, I can’t even begin to imagine how you feel. I hope and will pray for reconciliation and healing for you and your family.

Really sorry for this happening. May Lord’s Grace support you in this very sad moment. May you find His love where you feel solitude and sorrow.

Sorry to hear what happened to you and yours, may Jesus guide you and help your family to return to you

If you do not mind and want to, pm me your name and your wife and kids…I will write your names in the perpetual adoration prayer book that I visit close to work.

God speed, my friend…I am praying that the love of God will envelop you and your family.

I really appreciate what you, Pablope, Dolphin, Truthsave, Pepband Mom and others have said here, and I can definitely use the prayers.

I’m sad to see that I’m probably not going to be allowed to post here much longer. Looks like someone has reported me for “contempt of Catholicism,” and that’s a very upsetting accusation. I neither feel nor manifested “contempt for Catholicism.”

That’s an absolute misunderstanding of what I said.

I pointed to a positive and enlightened example of rational jurisprudence from the Spanish inquisition. I’m an attorney, and Alonso Frias is a hero of mine for rejecting hysterical accusations. Brother Frias is called the “witches advocate” because he saved hundreds of innocent people from being burnt by *secular *authorities for witchcraft.

It seems that someone saw the words “Spanish Inquisition” and then leaped to the conclusion that I must be saying something horrible about the Catholic church. 😦 That’s sad too. You don’t get the whole history of the Spanish Inquisition from Monte Python.

I have nothing but respect for the RCC. I am proud of the fact that a chunk of my tithing money goes to Catholic Charities, and studying the theology of your Church Fathers has made me a better mormon.

With that said, I need and appreciate your prayers.

Thank you,

Peter
