I just recently started my own Catholic Blog. I am having trouble trying to find my audience. Anyone have any ideas how I can get the word out? And know this is not a clever ploy.
Since you just started two weeks ago, I’d say give it some time.
I really think the best thing you can do to increase your blog’s readership is to network. Add a blog roll in the margin and link to other Catholic blogs. Then send a message to those people asking if they’d consider reciprocating.
Visit other Catholic blogs and comment frequently. If you regularly make useful, insightful comments, people will click on your user name (and thus be taken to your blog).
Add your blog to your signature here on CAF. I haven’t really pursued getting more readers, so clicks from CAF is where I get most of my traffic.
Just keep at it. It doesn’t happen overnight. And it takes work. But you can make it happen.
I know I’m quite far behind in keeping it up to date. I’m actually working towards moving my “Average Joe Catholic” blog to WordPress and making a separate blog for reviewing Catholic resources and using AJC for whatever I feel like writing about. But more pressing obligations have slowed the process down a bit.
Whenever I get up and running, though, I can get a blog roll of my own going and reciprocate.
