Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hopefully, by God’s Grace, many of us have spent this First Friday of February, pondering our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Perhaps some read the thread on “Repentance” and took some time to consider how much we need to repent and ask God to purify our hearts to love as He loves.
It is good for us be serious about our call to holiness. At the same time, it occurred to me, there is a danger in thinking too much about ourselves and not enough about God’s Love revealed in Jesus! It is important to keep our focus on Him. This week the Mass readings have been from the Letter to the Hebrews. I won’t quote all of Heb. 12, but if you haven’t listened to it in awhile, you may want to pray over at least the first few verses:

"…lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of God.
Jesus, I trust in You!"Consider Him who endured such hostility against Himself, so that you may not grow weary or faint-hearted…(Heb. 12: 1-3)
