Someone gave the book Look What Happened While You Were Sleeping to my FIL (Baptist) with the premises that a local priest left the Church and gave this book to his Parishoners.

None of this seems right to me. What can you tell me about the book? I got the creeps just looking at the cover and the blurb on the back cover made no sense.

I may have to google this and find out what this is about - but the cover just looks creepy.

From the blurb on their own website, this author seems to be advocating a Second American Revolution, and some kind of theocracy. Scary.

That’s the same inclination I got from it, too.

It has to do with a certain “private revelation” that is something of a no-no on this Forum.

You can totally ignore it, as I intend to do.

Unfortunately, I cannot, because the book was given to my Fundamentalist Baptist FIL by a Catholic co-worker who had it given to her by her Parish priest who left the Faith and gave the congregation the book as his “going away present” and “explanation” for his leaving the Faith.

Two words…“urban legend”. Do you REALLY believe that any Parish Priest is going to read a dubious book by an anonymous author connected with a private revelation that we are not supposed to mention in this forum…AND, as a result of reading that one book, leave the Church?

Get real.

Your FIL got this from who? Sounds like another aspect of Urban Legends, the FOAF. Friend of a friend. I think your FIL is taking you for a ride. I would be willing to bet that the so-called “catholic coworker” is a figment of your FIL’s imagination. Or a gross misunderstanding.:twocents:

If you knew anything about my diocese, you would not be surprised by any of this.
And yes, I can see a priest up here doing just that.

Okay, guys…mods may remove this but…

Friend of Medjugorje is a man, in Birmingham AL, that lives and runs Cartias of Birmingham (bottom corner of book)…you can google that as well. (it’s a community)

I sent PatienceandLove the website. I will not put the site on public forum, against rules.

Anyway, thanks to this forum, I haven’t visited this place (I live within driving distance, of course) nor read much about Medjugorje, nor read much written by Friend, although I am surrounded by people who firmly believe in it.

Both my father and stepmother read this book, both devout Catholics, and were very moved by it. Kind of centers on the visions of Mary and how she warns us of how things are going to pot, particularity in the US, and how to fix things, at least in the author’s mind. There is probably more to it than that, but I think thats the basics. I’ve gotten the book and have just started reading it, but not enough to form an opinion.

I did the GOOGLE, visited the site, did some more research…pass. With “friends” like that, who needs enemies:D

As for “private revelations”, I am awaiting them from my cats. To date, I have learned that it is essential to leave the electric blanket turned on high 24 hours a day for the comfort of the cats.
