I used to order theological books from them, after I received their printed catalogs in the mail. But this fell by the wayside for me because the founding of internet purchasing of books at sites like addall. I was very impressed by their collection, and would have gone there happily if I was ever in their part of the country. Their problems sadden me.

Oh, it is wonderful visiting them. I am lucky to have lived close by for 30 years and knew Tom Loome. Stillwater itself is a lovely old river town well worth visiting.
Much of the experience was just the old church where Loome was housed for many years. Up on a hill, and Tom rarely kept much light and little to no heat due to cost (and this is MN). You’d dress warmly in layers and explore rows of ancient and esoteric books by flashlight, stumbling on amazing “finds.” I miss those days!
It was a work of love. I wish Chris Hagen the best as he tries to keep it up, but since the recession so many book stores just can’t make it.
