It seems pretty tame and harmless. Anybody offended by that will pretty much be offended by anything. We need to stop giving in to the politically correct and the easily offended.

Aren’t they up to about Toy Story 17 now? Even more than the Rocky or Halloween franchises.

Would you have a problem if the prospector character was propositioning He-Man twins?

Of course the world wouldn’t have a problem with it. Sodomy is greatly encouraged by the secular world these days as a heroic virtue.

I didn’t ask if “the world” would have a problem with it.

I disagree. It’s a small thing, a few seconds at the end of the movie. It’s tame compared to many things we see in movies and on TV these days.

It’s still gratuitous nastiness and the company does not deserve to be labeled ‘politically correct’ for removing it.

I would, for the same reason as for the Barbie twins.
And I would not be surprised, in some venues, to be accused of homophobia for saying so.

It isn’t part of the film, it’s after the credits.

Stinky Pete is offering to help their career wink wink nudge nudge. It’s a film for kids, the joke is for adults. Removing it doesn’t hurt the plot.

What exactly is wrong with that scene?
In light of the me-too-harvey-weinstein-casting-couch type of things, the joke sort of falls flat at present.

It’s not really that big of a deal for it to be removed. Toy Story movies always have faux bloopers play throughout the credits. In this case, the blooper is that Stinky Pete gets caught on camera making a pass at the Barbie girls on the casting couch. Once he realizes he’s on camera, he gets embarassed for being “caught.”

I can see why they would cut it. It strikes pretty close to the whole Harvey Weinstein thing. And while it is a joke that will go over kids’ heads, it is something they could take a lot of heat for.

It’s not part of the plot, so I’m fine with it being removed. It’s aimed at the adults watching, not the target audience of children.

I sort of wish they would delete the end of Toy Story 4. I’m going to pretend it doesn’t exist and it’s Woody’s dream. He and Buzz can be in Andy’s apartment on a shelf, safe and sound.

No spoilers. 😜 I haven’t seen that one yet. I’ll wait until it comes out on video.

I won’t post any spoilers but I read a synopsis. I think it was a good ending.

4 out of 5 members of my household didn’t like it. Especially the one who was a fan since 3.

But that’s just me.

You might enjoy it.

I thought it was funny.
Oh well
I was channel surfing a few nights ago and came across the end of the film as the ‘bloopers’ were being played. I thought ‘Neat…bloopers in a cartoon…this might be good’. Although they weren’t. Didn’t really work for me. But when the Stinky Pete part came on I was thinking - hang on…this type of behaviour might have been good for a laugh a few years ago, but it’s making fun of men using powerful positions to persuade young women into giving sexual favours.

It was always about that. But now we’ve realised that it ain’t that funny. And it wasn’t back in the day either. And we now admit to ourselves that it’s heinous behaviour by those in a position of power.

It’s excellent that they removed it. For two reasons. One that it’s not a joke and shouldn’t be treated as such. And two, it highlights the problem that not all of us (myself included) are up to speed with what is not acceptable.

Except that the Stinky Pete character had no power. He was a wash out of a toy that no one ever even bought.
As opposed to Barbie which is super popular.
So the humor is more that his ego is just that big as he’s macking on characters he’s never really have a chance with.

Or I might be totally misreading the whole thing 😜

I think you might be. It’s making a joke of the way that people in power can misuse it.

I don’t know the characters but Pete’s mistaken belief that he might get them into bed (let’s not beat around the bush) because he thinks he has some power to do so might add something to the ‘joke’. We’re all meant to be thinking ‘Yeah, as if! What a loser!’ But the subject matter itself shouldn’t be treated humorously in the first instance.

It would be like Bugs Bunny appearing in blackface. It wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow in the sixties. But not now. This ain’t funny. It wasn’t back then either. We just didn’t appreciate it.
