I don’t know. Aquinas? Chesterton? Jesus is infinitely smarter. I’d ask him for a bit of his intellect over those two peabrains any day. 🙂
They wouldn’t give it to me directly, as if they could “give me their grace” or anything at all like that.

They could, however, lend us their prayers (granted they’re in Purgatory or Heaven). I often find myself talking to Thomas and uncles Jack Lewis and Gilbert K., asking for their intercession when I’m defending Our Blessed Lord against unbelievers. I consider them my spiritual fathers, since one helped me achieve a greater understanding of “mere” Christianity and the other helped me discover the treasure that is the Church. As for Aquinas, I hold him in high esteem. I can’t say I have devotion for him though. Perhaps someday. I’d like to. 🙂

Can’t say they don’t bring a smile to my face!
I’m in Canada. the Catholic schools here are government-run, so the Church doesnt have much say in the schools.
Yeah, that pretty much sucks.

What university/college do you attend in London?

I go to a High School, Catholic Central High. Inner city school.

If I stay in London I will probably go to King’s College, which is the Catholic College belonging to the University of Western Ontario.

Hi, Keep up the good work. Have you spoken with your parents about this incident. I only know this, if my daughter came home from catholic school and told me that story, I’d have been down at that school the next morning waiting for them to unlock the doors for me to get in and have a talk with first the instructor, second the principle, and thirdly the Bishop of my diocese. Ah yes and most likely the parents of the girl with the smart mouth!!! OOOHHHHH I’m a little angry right now probably best to stop right where I am. Don’t be too dismayed, you are doing the right thing. Keep that up and see where it gets ya!!👍

Haha I thought you went to a “Catholic” college or something. I thought you were older! You certainly seem older. Its nice to see people my age here.

Today in my world issues class (this one course is both a blessing and a curse) we discussed the topic of the Pope’s lecture.

Most of the lcass didnt say anything, but one girl across the room began voicing her opinion that the Pope is a racist and is encouraging violence against Muslims. I had brought a copy of the lecture since I figured that I would have to say something. I asked if anyone had read the Holy Father’s speech, nobody had, so the teacher had me read the relevant paragraph. I did and then she said that it did sound like he was making anti-Muslim comments and she couldnt figure out why he would say something like this now. I said it was a very good speech and he was just using that quote as an example, and even called it “forefull” and “bruesque” in the lecture. That didnt matter, another student said that the Catholic Church is more violent than the Muslims have ever been. My teacher said the Pope had no room to say something like this, considering that the Catholics caused the Crusades (differance: the Crusades were almost 1000 years ago, while 5 years ago last week Muslim extremists flew planes into the WTC and the Pentagon). I tried to argue this, but no, yet another classmate told me to open my eyes and stop living in the past. After class a student said loudly that if anything happens to the Holy Father she will laugh. I am begining to wonder if my grandfather was right when he said that my generation has got itself a one-way ticktet to hell.

Now most of that class wont talk to me and more than a few times today I’ve been called a “Churchie” or a more derogatory comment that I preffer not to say here.

Is God testing my faith or something? I try to defend the Church, but I always get shot down. Is there any easier way to do this? I try to have a positive outlook, but everyday I cant help but see signs of a religion in decline surrounding the Church. This stuff even keeps me up at night 😦
You are being persecuted and are going through a form of bloodless martyrdom. Keep the faith…I have read some things you have written on this forum and I am impressed.

I doubt that you keep getting shot down. Successes and failures are often merely perceptions. You could be right and the whole world could be wrong. If that were the case, you can surely see that you could not be shot down. You would, instead, be dealing with a unanimous vote against the truth.

Stand your ground and always be a light to those you meet.

God bless you.
