Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Perhaps you’ve never read the book, “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary” by St. Louis de Montfort. You may have read about De Montfort’s “Total Consecration” to Jesus through Mary during this Advent, or read references to St. Louis De Montfort’s words in St. JPII’s Apostolic Letter “On the Rosary”. Those threads I’ve written recently are inclining me to re-read “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary” again!

By God’s Grace I want to hear more, and ask the Lord to open the ears of my heart to hear His wisdom in this little book which St. John Paul II called a “turning point in his young life” and the servant of God Frank Duff said (after reading the book half a dozen times): “This is True”! It was a turning point for Frank Duff too. Both men have defended and spread the Catholic Faith in modern times. They learned much from St Louis de Montfort, a priest who lived in the 1700’s who was immersed in Scripture and totally given to Jesus through Mary.

"True Devotion" is both classic “Catholic Literature” and “Apologetics” for persons seeking to know and to defend God’s Truth. Perhaps today more than ever we need to defend Mary our Mother. St. Louis de Montfort found in his own day those who had no devotion or had inauthentic devotion to Mary, and in his love for Jesus and Mary, his treatise defends the Truth of God’s Work in and through His Mother.

The link at the opening of this post is to the online version, but you may want to purchase a copy for yourself so you can highlight passages. I’ve read the book many times and my paperback is practically falling apart. 🙂 I underlined in pencil and then underlined in red pencil. This time I want prayerfully to re-read it asking the Holy Spirit to guide me and all those who read it into ALL Truth.

As with other books, I like to begin at the beginning - read a little, post, then wait, respond to any questions or comments, and then go on to next paragraph or two, depending on context. May the Lord draw all of us closer to Jesus through Mary during this New Year of 2018.
