We are a Catholic Comunity of Friars and Nuns (Sisters) who want to live ALL the more of the Gospel with the facts and in the Truth. We also live with out wanting, asking or touching money, not that it’s bad to touch it, as also the desciples had a safe keeping, but our hearts have greatly desired to live also as Jesus says: “go with out bread, back pack, cane or money” (Cf. Mk 6, 7-8). I have attached a short film that partly expresses our Charisma. We hope you enjoy it…

We are new to this Forum, and you are the first person to reply us! I’m infact a Friar, who opened this forum page, but what’s realy interesting is that I too am also Australian (from Adelaide), yet I’ve happily lived for the last 7 years in (and now write to you from) Italy after the Lord called me to live in this beautiful Religious family of Friars and Sisters.

Very cool site there. Poor Friar!

I was a little concerned, though, seeing the picture of the two Sisters hitch hiking.

Isn’t that rather dangerous for women to do? To expose them to being kidnaped, or worse still, getting raped?

Just trying to be prudent…
 
Your absolutly right!.. It would be very unprudent for the Sisters to go Hichhiching on there own, infact it’s for this reason that we have a rule in our life style that the Sisters can never Hitchhike alone, they must always be acumpanied by a friar who plays the part of the Gardian Angel, (The Sisters there had their photo taken by a Friar who was traveling with them!) eg:

<< In regards then, to the previous discourse, since we are a mixed community, and since for the most major part of the time we travel by hitchhiking (as advised in pg. 10,11,12,13, of our little Rule V.V.), one can depart, other than two by two, like one of the best ways advised to us by the Lord (Cf. Lk 10,1), also according to the cases, or in two brothers and a sister as following pious woman, or in two sisters and a brother as Guardian angel that accompanies them, since the Lord says: <> (Ba 6,6), and since the Apostle explains: <> (Gal 4,14 B), and also since Tobit said: <> (Tb 5,17).

Mk 6,7 - or rather ) to the following Evangelical suggestion, that in regards to the Lord and those of his ( when they travelled to preach ), saying: << He made his way through towns and villages, preaching and announcing the good news of the Kingdom of God. With him were the twelve and as well as certain women>> (Lk 8, 1-2). ( Cf. Jn2,12 )
So then, if in some cases there is the possibility to also Live Perfectly also this Evangelical pass ( or rather, in many brothers and certain sisters V.V. ), so let it be welcomed, so that the Bread becomes even whiter !

Good to hear that you have the safety and protection of your Sisters in mind, Brother! 👍

I looked at the photos of you and your community. You’re a pretty adventurous lot! How do you get the airfare to go to Australia, for instance? And you need passports, too! How do you get them, since you’re supposed to be poor like our dear San Francesco?

I’ve been to Rome, Assisi, Lourdes and Fatima myself…but of course, in either a group pilgrimage or on my own. 😃

And St. Francis is one of my absolute favorite Saints!

I love your habits-you look ‘half-Franciscan and half Carmelite’, if you ask me! 😉 🙂
 
We live totally on the providance of God !
Yes, Infact I have been to Mexico with one way tickets that the air plane company gave us, as the Sister with us read that Mother Theresa of Culcutta asked the Companies i the Name of the Lord. As we were headed for the feast day of the Madonna of Guadeluppi, thanks be to God, they gave us three tickets - but only one way to Cancoon, Mexico. Then (after hitchiching some 3000 Km’s we found a priest who helped us with return tickets there in Mexico… I repeat, we are poor, and we diddn’t and don’t take anything for the voyage !.. (this was a real adventure !)… As for Australia, my “earthly” father offered one ticket, and friends of ours here in Italy offered the second as my mother was dieing with a terminal desiese.
Yes, the Lord provides ! … And above, calls us to the Beatific Immortality !!!

Wow-I guess you do live by the Providence of God!

Have you ever been in the United States? I was wondering about that, since you’ve been in Mexico. If you ever to the US, I might as well warn you…some states have laws against hitchhiking.

But if I saw any of the Brothers or Sisters [since I know what you look like from viewing your photos] ‘thumbing it’, I’d definitely pick you up! 😃

we havent yet been to the US… but, as Jesus says more or less :“Go out to the whole world to preach the Gospel…” (cf. Lk 24,47) ,with the Grace of God, one day we will !

And Happy Candlemas Day, too! I just watched the Catholic network EWTN’s coverage of the Vespers service with the Holy Father from St. Peter’s in Rome. The Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple is also the World Day for Consecrated Life.

Have you ever met our Holy Father in person? This curious American mind would like to know…🙂 😃

Unfortunatly I have’nt yet personaly met the Pope, yet on several occasions I’ve attened either the Holy Mass that he has Celebrated, or public audiences that he has given. As we travel alot (by hitchhiking), and we often pass by Rome, and we try to attend these encounters with him as much as possible. Like so we have the chance also to meet many people who are interested in doing Gods Will, and inviting them all the more to an even greater paticipation in the research of becomeing Saints !

I have just finished watching the videos on this thread.
I am very humbled indeed to see the happiness and serenity on your faces!!
I observed that there is vast difference in the body language, facial expressions etc btw the two pixs of before and after. Whereas the before pixs had guarded expressions the religiour shots show relaxation, youth, and peace radiating from all of you.

i will certainly like to know more about you. Please write when you can.

To be called by God to do his work really is a grace and a gift!
What are your plans this lent and easter?
I am hoping for a more prayerful one. I have of course purchased and celebrate easter at The royal easter show at olympic park- sydney).
sydney news - the economy is picking up, Tony Abbot is now the opposition leader and as usual always debating hotly with Julia Gillard ( deputy PM)
School kids are now knifing each other with the latest victim being buried only this morning. And so life goes on…
