Dunno how old you are kid, but do you want God to sit your exam for you, or sumthin’?

He gave you a brain and skills that you must use and ‘exercise’ just like muscles! Practice, study, work hard! All the saints did!

They didn’t pray to God and say, ‘If you grant me this, I will have faith in you!’
That’s not how life is. St Stephen was stoned to death. Peter was crucified. etc. Do you think God let them down??

Work hard and Pray hard. Pray hard and work hard. If you can read, write and think, you are already more blessed than almost half the ‘kids’ around the world. USE your gifts wisely and appreciate your blessings. Sharpen and hone them now! Now is the time to make mistakes (exams) for it may save someone’s life in the future.

God ALWAYS answers our prayers! ALWAYS! But, most times, we do not like the answers, because we do not understand them at the time. You may learn that if you didn’t work extra harder this time, you wouldn’t have learned how to persevere and endure harder problems than your (current) exams.

God Bless

Sorry to hear about your less than satisfactory result . We all fail from time to time , there is no shame in that , only in not trying ( hard ) . Is this a subject for which you don’t have a natural aptitude ? I remember when I was in college and I crashed and burned in Organic Chemistry , this meant a change in career path .
How hard did you honestly apply yourself in preparation for this exam ? Perhaps more effort is required . Can you get help from your teacher or another student ?
Don’t take this the wrong way , but God did answer your ( and all ) prayers . You just don’t like the answer . Mabe the answer is more preparation or a different choice . Remember , God is not a " celestial butler " doing our bidding or a " heavenly short order cook " filling our orders . Oh , and no doesn’t mean never .
Good luck !

God gave us the ability, and we have the means to study available to us. The amount of preparation, work and study that we put in is up to us.
God gave us the gifts and we must use them to the best of our ability and with consistent dedication. We can’t just mostly hope for a miracle in answer to prayer. We already have the miracle of ourselves and our abilities, and opportunities to study, as God’s gifts.

It is up to us how well we use the gifts God has given us. If we are consistent and dedicated and do our best, with best use of our time, then we will most likely succeed.

I suspect that many of us would like a fairytale God who granted our every wish. I wouldn’t have minded that sometimes myself! However God respects the free will and the gifts of ability that we are given, and it’s up to us to do our genuine absolute best not to waste those gifts or use them halfheartedly some of the time, or allow ourselves to be distracted too many times when we should be studying or writing assignments.

Do you see what I mean?

I am so sorry about your exam result. I know firsthand how humbling and discouraging an F can be. God tests us just as our brothers and sisters do. We must return God’s mercy with a merciful heart of our own by looking past ourselves and our own feelings and asking how, in this instance, we can further glorify God. Are we to see this as another door opening to us (the one behind us, not ahead of us)? Or, are we to accept this suffering as we enter Lent as Jesus accepted His suffering, continuing ahead, knowing full well how painful and difficult the road will be.

I will pray for the darkness to be lifted so you can again see God’s love and mercy for you. And, good luck on the exam. Start studying and pray without ceasing.

Maybe… But I’m still upset about it…
Of course you are upset. It is distressing.
I hope you can recover and are able to study the right things before your next attempt.
It’s a blessing that you can retake the exam. 🙂 It would be awful if you didn’t even have that chance.

All of us wish you success this next time.

God bless you.

Dear all thank you so much for your support and kind words… I’m able to recover a little… And start studying slow and surely… Please pray for me so that I can go back to God and for my exam…🙂

Hmmmm! Today’s mass reading from James 1:1-11. I hope you can find peace in this. 👍 I did.

Peace!!!

We do not and cannot control God. Of course he will answer your prayer if it is in the earnest, as he is kind and generous, but he won’t magically make you pass an exam. Don’t lose your faith just because some prayers go unanswered. I have heard the story of a saint once who spent a major part of his adult life praying to Our Blessed Mother for the conversion of his father but only got a deathbed conversion (still, thanks and all praise to God). It doesn’t mean that God doesn’t care for you. God bless you, my brother/ sister. 👍

Hi, Blessedchild,

You received a lot of good advice. Let’s see if we can put it in order and set some priorities - I am a retired nursing instructor and this may be to the point.

The only “F” that is going to make a difference is the one you give yourself before the Throne of God when you are judged. The consequence of that failure are immediate, most severe and are eternal. Now, that is failure.

For these human struggles of ours - set one long term goal for yourself. And, then apply yourself so that in everything you do you see yourself working toward this goal. Now, this is what separates the one’s who succeed from the guys on the corner that just look at the tops of their shoes and say, “I could have done that…” while their voice trails off.

After you have set your goal - give yourself the time to complete it! Each one of has 168 hours per week (24 x 7) evenly divided into seven days. Make a table and identify each and every hour. Then in each hour cell, write down what you will need to do to fulfill your real goal… not getting that final “F”! Then look at your family responsibilities. Then look at your physical responsibilities (eating, sleeping, working, going to school etc) Now look at all of those empty cells you have left - all of this can be devoted to study … but, that is not realistic. The rule of thumb is that for every 1 hour of class time you need to have at least 2 and sometimes 3 (depending on the course and how well you can retain the content) hours of study per week. It looks like more time will be needed for this course you are doing poorly in.

Finally, talk to your Instructor and find out what he thinks would be helpful. The semester just started, so I am guessing this was your first test. My guess is that you have the time to pull your grades up - but, only if you work at it and not drop the ball - again.

There is a lot to life - and discouragement happens to everyone. You have a certain amount of control here in that you determine how much you are going to study and the grade tends to be just a reflection of the amount of successful study time you have given this course. Whining about this sub-standard grade is not the answer. And, blaming God totally misses the point. When asked how much God loves you - He held out His Hands - and they were nailed to the Cross. When you are inclined to whine and blame God - I suggest you hold on to a crucifix and pray.

Now, get your priorities straight, set your goal, make your weekly-table - and do the work you need to do to pass this course.👍

God bless

I don’t think it’s part of Catholic Dogma or anything, but

God helps those who help themselves

Now you know what’s on the test, you know what you need to study.

A few years ago I lost a job due to the company closing its doors and moving to another part of the country. The first one I blamed was God. It took a while but I finally came to see it was the fault of the company and the Great Recession which men control. While I don’t have employment to match the income and benefits I had, I do have some employment and Social Security which God has chosen at this time to bless me with until I can locate something better.:signofcross:

Hello,
it is normal to be upset, read Jona, he was upset too. But God kept loving him behond his behaviour and acceptance of His Will.
God can take our changing mood. We are the only one that have to be carefull about them. His Love is always there, our heart can be opened to take it or closed so no Grace can be received.
Our plans are many, many times different that God plans, since they are extremely imperfect and egoistic oriented.
It is from our faiule that we come to understand more deeply our true relation with God and seeing our weakness.
May you be blessed and calm down after this failure. May you find in your failure God’s Love.
Maybe God is protecting yourself to fall in love too deeply with your life and your success.
God protect us from this if we want stay His way. But of course there is always a part in ourself that want to be materially succesful.
God is with you behond your plans He is there and protect you from the worst.
Sometimes we just think this worst is our best.
Be faîthfull. I know it is difficult. It was difficult for Jona and it has been difficult for many saints too.
May our Lord Jesus be with you

I’m glad to see others have been able to help you with this. It would be a shame for someone to lose their faith in their loving God and Savior over an exam. Years ago, I lost my faith for a while and I had two weeks of very painful doubt and was afraid to live and afraid to die; it had to do with these wierd feelings I was having, which were caused by demons and a stupid book I had read (it was a well-written piece of fiction; I just hate some of the things it says. It was written based on a theory of the author that there is no good or evil and that a vast group of neutral spirits created everything.) Thankfully, God put a stop to it.

IMHO you need to thank God for all the good people here who have encoraged and help open your mind to do better and study harder…not all people are lucky to be supported by strangers,so I hope you see how this is all working to your advantage thru Christ Our Lord and keep in mind remeber to “pass it on” when others ask you how God has helped you out trememdlously today God bless!!

Thank you all for your kind words… I’m starting to see the hope that i can pass!! Since everybody has been so supportive I will try my very best to study and pass!! In fact I received so much comfort and love from this failure from all of you… Maybe this is what Actually God want me to have in a first place… This also shows how fragile I am in my faith… I pray tonight that the Lord gave me the strength to hold on to Him no matter what the situation are… And really thank you!!! God bless you too!!! I will not dissapoint all you who have confident in me ESP My Lord…:o

I’ve been saying a daily prayer for my wife who is in nursing school. It is a prayer St. Thomas of Aquinas said to the Virgin Mary while preparing for his exams at the Universit of Paris. I have added you to the prayer. Only you though can make it happend. God’s gift will be to provide you with the fortitude and perserverance with your studies, to help you recall what you learned when you need it. But the initiative is on you to learn and understand the material, and then he will grant you the guidance to use this knowledge and it’s application with Grace. Work hard, and you shall be rewarded.
