I am not sure if other have read my story. I must confess my recent experience shook my faith. There will be times wherein I wonder if they (my ex fiance and his family) are favoured by God more.I said this because I am confused as to why it happened to me.

I guess I am just venting out. I am sorry.

No I’m not aware of your story, guessing it had something to do with your ex-fiancee and his family. I am sorry that you are having a hard time. Remember God will never leave our side, we leave Him when we harden our hearts.

If you think they are being favoured by God, praise God. Be happy for them. Easier said than done I know.

God’s people suffer, we need to be content with that suffering. What do I mean when I ask you to ‘be content with suffering?’ Suffering fuses our souls with God intimately which is why many Saints suffered all sorts of pains and illnesses.

Many christians are more than willing and happy to participate in the blessings of the Redemption of Our Lord. Few are willing or happy to participate in the suffering of the Crucifixion of Our Lord. :signofcross:
 
My parents neighbour’s are lovely people, welcoming and successful. They had a lovely home, went skiing in Switzerland, cruised the Caribbean, bought a new car every two years. He was a successful Trader.

One day his wife came over when I was visiting and she burst into tears telling us he had lost his job, he also had a cocaine addiction, she did not know how they were going to pay the mortgage and car repayments. They did not prepare for those possibilities.

I would rather have a car I owned. I would rather be financially intelligent than earn a huge income and be financially illiterate.

All that glitters is not necessarily gold. Not everything is what it appears to be on the surface.

Ask St Jude for help.

Oh glorious apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused thee to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Bad things happen to good people all the time. When something hits us it is just a natural, human reaction to ask: “Why? Why me?” But when we look at what the church teaches about original sin and suffering, then we should ask: “Why not?” Please don’t be tempted to think that because you are devout and love God you will somehow be spared the hardships of life and be favoured. This is heresy. We are not a church of prosperity, a so called health and wealth gospel.

I have been following your other thread and I think many people have given you good advice on how to deal with what happened. Perhaps you could go back to that thread and re-read it and get a sense of perspective. God is looking after you, don’t you see? You could have ended up in their clutches if you married the guy, but things have turned out in your favour, even though it was difficult and humiliating.
 
Hi Bluesticks! The other posters are right when they say that God is actually favouring you: because you are now out of that situation. You now have the time & opportunity to learn from that and understand that it was not healthy for you to be in. The in-laws were playing devil’s advocate it seems in a situation that is really about you & your ex-fiance. It dies not seem that he was truly ready to leave his family (in every respect) & cling to you as his wife. Especially so that the two of you could be ‘one’ in every sense. I hope this makes sense to you as i have not read all your posts but just a small amount to get some idea. The last thing you should do is blame God for this, viewing it as unfortunate. You are lucky. By the way, there was a recent tv show about this very situation: the parent in law openly critising the daughter in law (to be), in her own home -.& the fiance, told his parent to apologise or leave - now thats the support you need for marriage & thats upholding the dignity of women. 👍

I would add only one thing to this statement, when we suffer and turn to Jesus he is very close to us and understand our pain. As Saint Faustina writes in her diary," Trust in the Mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ".

Thank you very much for helping me and encouraging me. I guess, I am still feeling down about it. I know that God is always with me. Sometimes I forget the fact that I was able to get out of the situation safely.
