Hello,
Let me start by stating that friendship means a lot to me. I’ve never had a good relationship with my family (either before or after my reversion). Sadly, I’m not as close with my siblings as is often the case - never have been. I think this is the reason why I’ve felt lonely my whole life. I’m very much an introvert, so I don’t like to have many friends. I’ve always wanted one close friend that I can have a great union with and talk to on deep levels. Well, a couple years ago I made friends with someone at Church. It was great; we’ve had similar pasts, similar struggles, both came back to the Church around the same time. We talked on very deep levels, trusted each other, taught each other, corrected each other when needed, even said our friendship was centered on Christ, and it was. Well for the last few months our friendships has been in a state of decadence. Just yesterday we both agreed that things would never go back to the way they were. This really saddens me. I have other friends, plenty of them, but none are family to me the way my other friend was - this is what I loved most about it: it was a family bond, a brotherhood, that I hadn’t really experienced before. Obviously, my friendship with Christ is the most important; but if human nature is as I know it, we need that human element as well. Do I desire too much in a friendship? To the point that it’s draining for the other? In case it matters, I’m in my mid-20’s and single. God bless.

i lost a close friend a couple of years ago. we had been best friends for about 15 years. it hurts, but sometimes you have to move on.

i have come to believe one thing about friendships: you can be intimate with others only up to a point. it is possible to be too intimate with others about your feelings, experiences, etc. my former friend and i, for example, would sometimes discuss topics that we wouldn’t have discussed if our wives had been present. i have come to believe that such conduct is pretty much per se wrong.

develop some good friendships, but don’t get too close to others (other than family) so as not to be hurt in the future.

that’s what i’ve decided to do.

Hurt is possible even with family, more’s the pity.

Ultimately, all human associations come to an end. We see that all the time in youth, via the endings of the various stages of schooling. In adulthood, the roads of human life continue to divide.

Allow this time in your life to drive you to the embrace of our LORD, which is for ever.🙂

God Bless and ICXC NIKA.
