I don’t think that the scriptwriters of Lost include a good catholic. I was watching an episode today in which someone said:

“You haven’t got a father - you were conceived immacculately.”

Did they get it wrong intentionally or on purpose?

Which episode was that? I don’t recall that.

Either way, there could be several explanations. The first is that there isn’t a catholic writer and the writers have that misunderstanding. The second is there is a catholic writer that doesn’t know his faith. The third is that there is a catholic writer (the 4th being a non-catholic writer too) that knows his faith and is just using a common misunderstanding that TOO MANY people have.

Back to discussing LOST -

I really enjoyed the opening of the episode where you get the other side of the island’s story. You see the beautiful water and the wind and nothing’s going on. Then a couple thoughts crossed my mind - 1) it looks like the beginning of a beer commercial, 2) wouldn’t it be funny if Hurley comes around the camera and says something funny? 3) dawning realization that maybe they were going to show the plan crash from that perspective and excitement at that and then 2 seconds later - wha-la!

How about the reunion of Rose and her husband?!?! Talk about goosebumps & tears.

The extra video tape that Echo brought with him was a little disappointing. Although the whole “Dad?” on the other end was pretty interesting!

It should be interesting to here Echo’s story. He seems like a God-fearing man. The whole 40 days of silence thing and all. And the previews for next episode w/ Psalm 23…

Interesting w/ Kate’s story and then the horse. What’s up w/ that? And her dad speaking through Sawyer (glad to see he’s better by the way).

An interesting interplay w/ the doc & Kate. He hearing Sawyer say he loves her and then she kissing the doc and his reaction because of that knowledge and her mistaken reaction at his apparent “lack of interest”.

Well gotta wait a month now…

It probably wasn’t on purpose. Most non-Catholics (and some Catholics) that I know of assume that immaculate conception is the same as virgin birth.

I just came across this thread in an unrelated CA Forums category. I found it very interesting in the greater discussion of any possible Catholic influence for the show.

Now that there seems to be even more “Catholic” themes, the bad theology is getting even worse!

In tonight’s episode, the “priest”, Mr. Eko, described how John the Baptist removed Jesus’ sins in the Jordan!
Oh well, I still love the show! Maybe it is all purposeful. TIme will tell…
