I feel lost and don’t have anyone to talk to so here I am. Where to begin…long story short…together with my DH for 9 years and married by civil union for 2 years next month. We have 3 kids, boy almost 8, 4yr old girl and 18 month old girl. We have our ups and downs but lately we have been arguing a lot especially about being behind on Bills etc. my DH tells me that I need to do more around the house, even tho I have a full time job, wake up…get the kids ready for school and start my day at 6:30am and get home at 6pm and that’s when we don’t have sports going on. I have felt really depressed for the last 2 years bc I lost a close nephew of mine and it’s been super hard to deal with. He was pretty much my brother bc my mom raised him. Long story here too but I’ll sum it up. My sister pretty much abandoned him at 11 and his death was ruled a sucide. So it’s all hard to understand bc he was so close with our parish priest and had changed his life. Anyway so I have that plus stress from work and just home life. My husband is a good man but I feel like he’s falling into his alcoholic fathers steps that he tells me he never wants to be. I mean he doesn’t drink everyday but when he does he binge drinks. My biggest issue is that he doesn’t want to attend mass with us. It hurts my feelings bc our kids attend catholic school and what kind of example are we setting. We also just started marriage preparation in August to bless our marriage with the church. It feels like he gives in to his peers. Feels like he cares to much what others think about our faith and I just don’t get it. He denies that that’s the reason. He has no valid reason. I don’t want to keep living like this. I have been waiting 9 years to receive communion again and I know the lord is calling me. I feel it. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it. When I go to mass it makes me feel like total **** that I can’t receive the Eucharist. Anyway we had a huge fight on Wednesday night and he didn’t even spend thanksgiving with and hasn’t come home. My guess is he stayed at his cousins house or friend. I don’t know bc he didn’t tel me and I didn’t ask. Haven’t really talked to him. Not sure if I’m ready or if he’s ready. He is also always worried about his mother and father and siblings. They always have struggled for money and bills but you can’t feel sorry for them bc his mom and sisters refuse to work. Sounds mean but I don’t feel sorry. I have 3 children and work my butt off. Anyway I need prayers and advice. Thanks in advance.

Wow, you have a lot on your plate right now. This might sound silly, but do you pray the rosary? If you don’t, I’d recommend trying that for one week, and tell Our Lady what your needs are. It would be less than 20 minutes daily. Maybe just as an experiment? 🙂 I will pray for you and your family this advent.

God Bless!

A sad story. You two really need to be in marriage counseling to define healthy roles before you marry in the Church.

I will pray for you.

Praying for you.
Praying the Rosary is a good idea,
You could ask your husband if he minds if you make an appointment with the parish priest, to discuss something really important to you, If he agrees, you can talk over being married in the church, and explain that this is really important to you. hopefully if you explain it would make your life much more fulfilling and joyful, he would agree to it.
