I ask you for your prayers for my situation. I have recently been trying to decide about leaving a very unhappy relationship I’ve had for 3 years, and every time I think its done it revives again. I am confused and unhappy- I know that I am loved,in the heart, but the action part of the relationship is unsatisfying for my own needs. I love this person, but I think its probably not worth it to hang in there, and I need to disconnect from my hope. My prayers haven’t seemed to have much of an effect, so I’m coming here to ask others to pray for help. Thank you.

:grouphug:I don’t think I would believe I am genuinely loved in the heart, if not in action. As commonsense wisdom claims, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”, and as Jesus said, “by their fruits you shall know them.” My mother said, “dont ever believe you can change a man” and I believe she was right. So I would wonder if I was loved or if there was just some selfish need or power or fear in the other which actually isn’t love of me at all in reality.

I ask the Lord to help you assess whether the above is true or not for you;
and whether or not you can subject yourself to a lifetime of the unhappiness you experience most of the time;
and subject your children to the consequences and raise them with this person.
May the Lord guide you and give you the clarity and strength and wisdom to do what is best.
If on the other hand you, as well as your friend need to grow and communicate, then I ask the Lord to make this clear and to help you both to grow into a mutually respectful and loving relationship

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

sojourn, I will hold you in my prayers…may God give you guidance with your situation, and may you find peace in His answers.
 
Thanks for your prayers- my unhappiness is compounded by troubles at my job (with my boss), and my parents are unwell and moving halfway across the country. I am usually energetic and upbeat, but all these burdens are weighing me down. I am very grateful for the boost in prayer.😊
 
Lord I pray for Sojournersolo. Send your Holy Spirit to Sojournersolo and fill him/her with an increase of strength to persevere through his/her trial at work and to be courageous with his/her partner. If Sojournersolo doesn’t think his/her partner will make a good spouse and parent, and if his/her partner isn’t leading him/her to a life of greater sanctity, then I pray that Sojournersolo can finally end this difficult relationship he/she is in and just be friends. Lord, revive Sojournersolo in spirit by your Holy Spirit and help him find the right words to speak with his boss to get his relationship with his boss to improve. If words are not enough for the situation at work to improve, I pray that you send your Holy Spirit to where Sojournersolo works and work on his/her boss’s heart and move him/her to be good with Sojournersolo despite their problems. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

No one ever said any of this would be easy, dear Lord, but with the grace and love you have for each one of us, we are prepared for the most difficult of journeys and know that you will be there for us each time we call.

An update- I stumbled back into this hole a few more times, but still came up short- unhappy, unfulfilled,and feeling strung along. I know now that it needs to be over, and I need the strength to persevere. My partner has not let me go in the past, and I let myself be pursued and drawn back into this painful and empty relationship. Please join me in prayer to be able to leave completely, and to shoulder the responsibilities we now share alone, as part of the burden of my leaving. Thank you for helping me so far, I have felt the assistance of your prayersin making my decision, and beg them again for this, the most difficult part for me.
 
O Lord, Holy Father, omnipotent and eternal God, I give You thanks and I bless Your holy name. I know I’m a poor miserable sinner but hear a cause that is just, pay heed to my cry, turn your ear to my prayer, no deceit is on my lips. Amen

to overcome every temptation which may come to me,
to do well every task which is assigned to me,
to shoulder every responsibility which is laid upon my shoulders.

Give me wisdom…
to know when to speak and when to keep silent,
to know when to act and when to refrain from action,
to know when to speak my mind and when to hold my peace.

So bring me to the end of this day
in goodness, in happiness and in peace.
