Starting Monday 30 June, I have been useing Universalis for Morning, Evening, and Office of readings.

HOWEVER, I also have to cram in AA, so Morning Prayer, followed by Office of Readings, usually starts at 1 PM, when I get back home from AA

And Evening Prayer is around 1 AM, after I return home from work.

I hope this is OK.

And Compline is about 2 AM, bed time. Recited in bed with two cats and one teddy bear.

It’s terrific that you’ve started praying the Divine Office, but it’s preferable to pray the offices at around their customary hours.

It’s probably not too hard to wake up 15min earlier to say MP. OR is fine to be said around noon, but 1AM is quite late for EP. It’s OK to skip one of the prayers, though the main ones are MP and EP.

The reason behind it is just so you can pray the Office with the whole Church (or at least its members in the same time-zone). It is after all the Liturgy of the Hours, even in private recitation.

Since you’re not bound (as priests and religious are) to pray the Liturgy of the Hours, it’s fine to adjust to whatever works for you.

And it’s better to pray a little bit of it well (with devotion) than to try to rush through and fit it all in.

Keep on praying! God bless you.

Reminder: I work 3 PM - 11:30 PM at the Post Office.😦

Perhaps I can be understood as reciting MP and EP with the good catholics in Hawaii:D

As a Novice in both CFP and BSP, I am supposed to do at least MP and EP, and perhaps the entire LOTH. But I have a whole year to work this out. This was, after all, progress report #1. Expect more.

(And I am indeed reading all the feedback I get)

It’s always 9:00 somewhere! Since the Office is the universal prayer of the Church, your prayers are sure to be offered with those of others somewhere in the world!

Quoting the Holy Spirit as He spoke through the fathers of the VII council:
That the day may be truly sanctified, and that the hours themselves may be recited with spiritual advantage, it is best that each of them be prayed at a time which most closely corresponds with its true canonical time. (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 94)
