In certain sections of the Liturgy of the Hours (such as the Responsory), you come across texts such as these from tonight’s Vespers as it appears in the one volume *Christian Prayer *by CBP:
Thanks in advance!
In texts like this where the response is written in abreviated form the second time it appears (as in the highlighted verse above) —is that supposed to be prayed as written, or is it “shorthand” for saying the whole verse?Accept my prayer, O Lord, which rises up to you.
----Accept my prayer, O Lord, which rises up to you.
Like burning incense.
----which rises up to you.
Glory to the Father…
----Accept my prayer, O Lord, which rises up to you.
Thanks in advance!
