LOTH Question on the Responsory

In certain sections of the Liturgy of the Hours (such as the Responsory), you come across texts such as these from tonight’s Vespers as it appears in the one volume *Christian Prayer *by CBP:

Accept my prayer, O Lord, which rises up to you.
----Accept my prayer, O Lord, which rises up to you.
Like burning incense.
----which rises up to you.
Glory to the Father…
----Accept my prayer, O Lord, which rises up to you.

In texts like this where the response is written in abreviated form the second time it appears (as in the highlighted verse above) —is that supposed to be prayed as written, or is it “shorthand” for saying the whole verse?

First, my reference: Lord Open My Lips ***The Liturgy of the Hours as Daily Prayer ***by Seth H. Murray (North Bay Books, El Sobrante, Calif.;.2004 (@$12)

I had the same questions…you pray the Responsory just as it is written…with the abbreviated second response (note, if you are praying the LOTH by yourself…you can modify or omit the Responsory…I always like to pray it completely as published as I would with a LOTH prayer group). See ref: pg 54.

Also…this is the only place where the Doxology (Glory be) is not said in full. Only the first half: “Glory…to the Father… to the Son…to the Holy Spirit” is prayed) omit the second/final part ( “…as it was in the beginning…”).See ref pg.54.

Another procedural aspect I missed…when you finish any psalm which has a psalm prayer…always pray the Doxology (in full)…then repeat the psalm antiphon…and then (if you have time for a moment of reflection/meditation take it here, after the antiphon prayer)… then pray the psalm-prayer. The order in the LOTH/Christian Prayer book seems to lead us into the psalm-prayer right after the psalm and Doxology prayer…then into praying the antiphon. Not so…the psalm-prayer is always last (if one is listed). See Ref pg 52.
